Red face Please help me with a new computer :)

    Hello dear friends of warcraft,

...since my current PC has got an issue that i can't fix on my own, it looks like i need to buy a new computer... unfortunately. Since i dont know much about hardware, i need you guys to help me with getting the right one that fits my needs.

What i need is a computer that runs WoW well in 25 man raids with medium/good details (i dont mind shadows) at 60 fps or more. My native resolution is 1920x1080. I looked up some hardware on my own that fits my budget (which is about 700 €/970 USD) and came to the following conclusion:

    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K, 4x 3.40GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600mhz (no idea which manufacturer i should take)
GPU: PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 V2
    Mainboard: ASRock Z75 Pro3
HDD: Western Digital WD Blue 1TB, 64MB Cache, SATA 6Gb/s
Power Supply: i have no idea..

Is that good enough? Or do i need something better for raids? Please help

Greetings and thank you in advance,
    ~Miss AristoCat

This will do fine for raids. The CPU is last Generation but would be fine, though I would recommend looking into either an i5-4something K ooooor (since budget matters as well) an fx8320 from AMD, they caught up in that price segment.

A generally good point to start are Chaud's Setups of the Month on this site:
    http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/...p-of-the-Month

ASUS generally makes better Motherboards, I would go with one of theirs.
I would go for a non-stock heatsink (usually softer and just better), more so with that "k" CPU to make you able to overclock better.

    Corsair has always been a good brand, consider this set.{I use 16GB of these}

For the Power Supply also Corsair I recommend, a cheap but good one with more than enough power for what you're building.

Also the pairing of ASRock and Intel are great, I use an ASRock for my MB also!

Some cash can be saved here and there but this is a great build and it allows for overcloking if you add an aftermarket cooler
This build will easy push 60fps in 25 man.

That's basically (except the heatsink) Chaud's "dolphin" setup, so far without HDD, DVD and Case and clocks in at 615€ on a German website.

I guess, to save even more money, you could even get a XFX 7770 as GPU, that could save another 100€ for you (while still being reasonably good).

Your Cpu choice is really fine, especially 3570k can easily overwhelm the Wow due to it's core performance. As far as i know,WoW is still not optimized for multi-core option which leads you to Intel processors again(Amd 6 or 8 core processors won't benefit from their core numbers so staying away from them is not a bad idea)

Graphic card looks nice and it's ok too

For ram i can recommend Corsair or G.Skill, depends on your money also your motherboard too and your cpu cooler size ofc

For Psu Corsair is good also on that, for maximum efficiency you can always look for their 80+ Gold Psu models,if you are interested in lower choices will be fine too.
Aftermarket Cpu cooler is also a good choice, stock cpu fan is not designed for performance, especially if you want to overclock your cpu,it'll burn as hell :P

For Mobo you can use Asus,Asrock or some high-end of the MSI mobos (due to their nice Vrm setup and phases)

P.S :Since there are is no huge differences between i5 3570k and 4670k,you can choose one of them if your budget allows you,but be aware of socket compatibility
You don't need a high end graphic card like Titan or equal for WoW

    I'm using Gtx 570 O.c and 3570k @ 4.2 Ghz it runs really fine

I hope i can be helpful

Ye its about 780£, but you can ofc change stuff like the HDD, Case and Video card to lower the price or even change to 1155 insted of 1150 socket.

Thanks for all the quick replies

I could raise the budget up to about 900€ if i wait for christmas, but that would really be the maximum amount i'm able to spend. I'll think that i go with Corsair then in terms of memory and power supply, thank you.

    Two more questions:
What is the difference between black and blue HDD's? And does the new haswell CPU really makes a noticeable difference in WoW ?

Haswell CPU is a solid investment if you play in 25m raids. Also, I recommend ordering from the website I linked to earlier, regardless of the setup you end up building.

The build i posted is 770£ so you are kinda fine. Changed out the Black for Blue. The difference between blue and black are the seeking time of files (latency) and also the Black one have 5 years of warrenty I believe instead of 2 but preformance wise you will not notice any changes black vs blue. If you wan't load times even faster you can add an SSD in the future

Haswell gives more power per core agains Ivy bridge.

Ok i just decided to wait until christmas and see what my final budget will be. Then i'll aim for the build that Guruftw made.

    Thanks to everyone

I dare say that the build I linked is better than Guruftw's. But prices might shift a lot before christmas due to AMDs new releases and 780Ti.

Main difference is 270x vs. nvidia 760, and 760 outperforms 270x easily in WoW, and otherwise they trade blows.

Ye I have not seen tests in Wow with the new Ati cards and ofc Wow favers Nvidia. I just used the budget that I had to work with.

Diden't Nvidia say that the Ti cards was supposed to be only sold to companys that make prebuilds?

Here. It seems to beat the 270X in most games in fact.

They surely did not say anything like that about Ti cards either.

I don't know about WoW ever favoring any video card brand, I would like to see a reference to that. Anyway, I have a i7 3770K with 8GB RAM and a Sapphire HD 7850OC and it runs WoW @ 1920x1080 on Ultra at over 60fps. So far, no lags or anything in 25m LFR.

Well, we are talking about a card that is ~$60 more than the 270x and offers less than 10fps. Since anything above 60fps is negligible. I say save the $60 and buy the 270x. As far as the GTX 760ti is concerned, it is only available to OEMs currently. Newegg doesn't have them listed for sale yet.

Here is the GPU Boss comparison of the 2 cards.

That's a stupid way of looking at it, who knows what happens to hardware requirements come next expansion. 10fps also isn't negligible at all.

And how is 760 Ti relevant, quite sure we were talking about 760.

Also, GPU Boss is an useless website.

Would you care to elaborate? I haven't used the site before, and it seems to offer a nice comparison of the tech specs, at least.
