    Computer upgrade

So, I'm looking to upgrade my computer soon. My budget is about $1100. I've got enough harddrives to last me a lifetime so I don't need those, I've got the antec three hundred case, I don't think I need anything more high tech, unless a graphics card wouldn't fit.

So, basically what I need to upgrade is the power supply, CPU, Motherboard, Graphics card, and RAM. I'm thinking 8gb RAM, but might go for 16. Now, I'm most interested in the graphics card and cpu. I've been out of the hardware game for some time, so I don't know what the newest things are, which is why I'm asking here.

What graphics card and cpu should I buy if my budget is $1100 and I want to have enough left to get decent ram, a motherboard and a power supply?

Where do you live and what do you plan on doing with it(gaming, video rendering[how much of it], professional programs, etc)?
Do you need a OS? Peripherals(monitor, keyboard, etc)?

Just making sure you know that the R9-290 (400$) is coming out in a week or so, if you play on a 1080p monitor a single 280X will do nicely in the newest games.
If you want to crank every setting to max then perhaps wait for the R9-290 or for the new card from nvidia to drop which may result in them lowering their 780 price.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($134.98 @ Outlet PC)

Bad Toffie, not checking to see if the memory is on back order or not(everytime I see that kind(Intel Extreme) on sale, it sells out within a day or two).
