Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, after 12 years of watching I really bond with the characters. I feel happy for Sam and Dean having their mother back, Jared's acting was on point in that scene where he brought Mary tea.
My doubts about Lucifer have somewhat lifted as well, I think they did a good job with the new cast, paired with the new effects (those frequent red eyes are great, first we have seen these were in S11 in the cage, I believe?).
Curious to see if the brothers bring up Adam to Mary.

I was surprised that Ms. British brought up Ruby and Benny. Haven't heard mention of them since their last appearance in the series; makes me hopeful some older plot threads will come up. We shall see.

My interpretation was Ms British was giving them shit ( American hunters) for budding up with monsters and that aint how we do things in London.

And also for the creep factor that we have been watching you boys awhile

The character is pretty boring, and I'm not really liking Sam and Dean can matantly having to babysit her.
I've never seen a stroke through text before.

Shes not that bad, shes hardly the first character to pull the run into danger alone trope. And shes gone now anyway after 3 episodes. Hardly dragging it out.

Plus, it's not like "Winchester family member has personal shit to deal with, doesn't talk to anyone about it and makes everything worse" is somehow new ground for Supernatural. It's the driving force behind most season arcs.

Shes saved the boys twice now. She stabbed the British lady who had the brass knuckles and she also rescued dean who got caught trying to break out sam. So I don't think you are bring fair saying she needs saving all the time after needing help with a ghost problem.

Also she's a winchester, not that surprising she's a stubborn hunter is it

The Winchesters ALWAYS need saving. That's their THING. It's usually Sam saving Dean, or Dean saving Sam. Now they've got Mom in there too.

She was never supposed to be this super-badass hunter. Her family had been hunters, but she left the life when she met John. It was only after her death that John picked it up, and by extension Sam and Dean, and it's only really Sam and Dean that have become "super badass" in the hunter community. And that only happened a few seasons into the show, to boot.

Go back and re-watch early seasons. She's right in line with where her kids were in Season 1/2 or so. Sure, they've surpassed her, but they've (literally) been through Hell and back. None of the other hunters they've met have been able to keep up with Sam and Dean either.

She was only ever "a hunter", not some super-hunter or something.

I'm surprised shes jumped into hunting so quickly. I mean she decided to get away from the family business, why would she be fine with going back?

Because she wants to be close to her sons, and that's what they do. And three episodes in, she can't handle it, and needs some time, so they're already dealing with this.

I thought that was less the hunting part and more the "omg I'm 25 years in the future and everything is so different!" It wouldn't surprise me if she is still hunting in her absence from the boy's lives.

I think its fair to say her and Dean have maybe a stronger connection than her and Sam. Is it a stretch she may also be like Dean in that she distracts her problems by diving head first into hunting and not thinking about it instead?

Sam brought up this very issue to Dean before the cell phone call in ep3

I bet that her meat suit, (created by Amara) is strong enough to contain Lucifer.

I was thinking this too: she does have half of the lineage of Sam, just like Adam (and John) had for Dean, which worked for Michael. How or why she would let him in, though, is an interesting question.

I really liked this episode. Stood far above other episodes this season. Could be because I don't like crowley's mother and that Mary felt forced before she ran. But I liked the theme a lot.

the old school monster of the week standalone stories are always good, especially if they have cool moments between the brothers.
    Hi

I just want to see more of the British Men of Letters and what exactly they have in mind. America is a huge fucking place, and it's nothing at all like Britain, which is obviously an island, is significantly smaller in size and a lot easier to contain, control and exterminate monsters in.

America, in terms of the land, climate and wildlife is still kind of untamed, and in part, it always will be. How exactly do they think they can just turn the entire country into a monster-free supernatural police state that Britain apparently is, especially if they eliminate the two best hunters in the States instead of trying to teach them and share info?

We don't quite know their endgame but I would guess it has more to do than just improving the safety of America. Plus I have a feeling they are going to learn rather quickly they underestimated the Winchesters, which frankly is incredibly stupid considering theres books in the supernatural world that explain how Sam and Dean pretty much solo the most powerful creatures in existence.

Either way at the moment its pretty clear they want to kill or capture the Winchesters and all other hunters with the specialist they sent after them

What I'm honestly predicting is that this happens, and then Mama Winchester knuckles down and secures her inner demon through strength of will and that she's a firstborn creation of The Darkness.

The Darkness was God's sister. Plenty powerful enough to create an entity that could stand up to and beat Lucifer. And she was pretty vague about "giving Dean what he needs". It would be a pretty assbutt parting gift to give him his mother back and leave her vulnerable to any Tom, Dick, or Lucy that wandered by; the Darkness wasn't trying to hurt Dean, and she's smarter than that.
