    The UK Storm

Being compared to St Jude's in 1987 which caused a massive amount of damage throughout the country.

Anyone else think this is being exaggerated? Looking forward to it anyhow. I'm right by the Brighton coast so I'll be taking it head on. Come at me storm!

It's pretty damn windy out already, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's damaging.

The 'hurricane' winds hitting southern England in the next few hours. 80MPH winds and torrential rain apparently. A 14 year old kid has been swept away at sea apparently. Very sad.

In relation to storms we get in the UK (no where else in the world) it's supposed to be pretty big, i doubt it'll be super bad but still. Oh well my house and pretty much every one in the UK is made out of brick instead of wood that will fly away so we'll be fine.

Windy in Portsmouth, but I had a big dinner, nothing out of the ordinary so far.

As an animal lover I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Coming from someone in Florida, it's not what hits you but what it hits. Houses here are built for high winds. Places that don't see this often don't tend to be built for serious storms. I hope you guys are staying safe.

Really? Its pretty nice here if you like peace and quiet. The weather is crazy, but you can leave your door unlocked and not worry about coming home to a empty house.

Wouldn't the winds just collapse the umbrella?

I love windy storms. Winds can already get pretty srong here in the city since the buildings create wind tunnels. But during Irene and Sandy here in NY, the wind was crazy.
