Hopefully someone knows here. The plot is basically a meteor falls on earth that contains a slimy gooey creature. It attaches itself to people's faces and I don't remember exactly, but it kills or mind controls them. It's from either 80s or 90s with very low budget. It's not The Blob or The Deadly Spawn.

That does sorta sound like what the OP described, other than the "very low budget" part.

You certain it's not The Blob, which was remade in 1988? I can't really think of anything else it might be.
