Do you remember when you got your first mount?

it was magical, mounts were like... WOW...almost every rpg i had played before hen you were constantly on foot, sure some of the NPCs had mounts, but not the players

Then I came to world of warcraft, I remember the feeling I got when I saw the first player on a mount -- I was like WOW this is soooo cool, then the feeling of amazement and achievemnt when I got my first horse. it felt magical.

Back then, one would only dream about a flying mount, taking a taxi was special, and I woul d be like wow what if I could actually fly... i remember rolling a druid simply cos I thought I would be able to turn into a raven like the druids of the talon in warcrat 3, and rememering wondering why at least a druid couldn't fly. Then TBC hit, and I tell you, flying was one of the most exciting things to hit.

It's kind of amazing how they've allowed all the special things in wow to not feel special anymore .. sure eveyrone wants and the temptation is to please them by making it easier to get, but doing so really devalues the thing, and to be honest you keep losing the things that make you special beacuse they're trivial.

Normal land mount was cool, but epic riding and mount was sooooo expensive. Took days of farming gold and was something special when you finally could mount up and out run the mobs in the plaguelands trying to get to Strats back gate without getting smashed by the bats and hounds and skellies everywhere....

I do. Back in the day, think it was level 40 for normal ground? Remember dinging the level at like 4 in the morning while questing in Dustwallow Marsh. Hearthed immediately and ran into elwyn to buy a horse.

I was lvl 52 and finally saved enough to buy the lvl 40 mount (vanilla). An awesome spotted nightsaber. I was so happy.
Rerolled to a mage at lvl 57 and got the lvl 40 mount at lvl 43, because I didnt buy vendor gear xD. I was even happier.
Took me quite a long time before I got my epic mount at lvl 60, but when I did I just roamed the world on my horsie :3

I remember being really disappointed that I had to dismount every time I wanted to battle. But oddly enough, I can't remember what class, race or map I was in. I know I was horde because I only played Horde for my first years of wow, but that's all I know.

I got my first mount in BC. I was level 42, had to borrow like 89 of the 100g it would cost me, and I remember just running around in Tanaris with it afterwards! It was the Striped Nightsaber night elf mount ^^

My fist 60% speed mount wasn't very special to me. It was my class mount which I got by basically doing nothing (paladin).

What WAS special was the epic class mount 100% speed. That was some quest and you needed to be either very lucky or have loads of cash. I got lucky in the end and got that Black Pristine Diamond that had like a less then 1% droprate or something. Very annoying. But when I finally completed the quest... I was so psyched I could not sleep.

I dont remember my lvl 40 mount much. It was just a case of getting the gold from the bank and buying it.

But for lvl 60 epic riding, i wanted the dwarfen ram instead of the gnome mechanohog cause I hate how those mechanobirds look. So I grinded Tyr's hand for about a month for the 1000g for the mount and all the silk you had to turn in to get the reputation to exalted.

e.g. Mounts - gosh they should have kept them at level 40 at least for your first character on either faction, second ones could get themearlier
    2. mann, racial mounts are special, they should've made it really hard to get a mount of another race, some of the key attractions of a class like paladin or warlock was getting that very unique mount. They should have kept the whole idea of getting exlted with a racial faction to get it's mount and by that I mean don't offer different versions of their mounts as easy rewards for other stuff.

    3. Dragons - my gosh, they became piss easy to get, rather than a rare achievement after an epic journey or rather an epic grind. Still keeping them novel, a thing that generally only few people will get or at elast something that was not so easily attainable.

What was the experience like for you?: What other things do you feel they should have kept as rare and difficult to get?

Black striped level 40 nightsaber and it was moooonths after release. I took my sweet ass time leveling my first character to 60 (and never really did another until BC)

First thing I did.... run about and open up the map. Then ran into Felwood at level 40 and got ded. Repeatedly.

I had a friend carrying me through SM runs along with a guildy of his who was going after some "twink" (twinking wasn't really a thing yet) gear for his lowbie priest, so I made a decent chunk of change off vendoring that to pay for the mount.

Ah yes... I was level 43 before I had managed to save up enough money for the 60% troll racial mount http://www.wowhead.com/item=8591/

    GOOD TIMES!

I remember seeing a Troll Mage in Orgrimmar on a Purple Skeletal Warhorse once and I was so amazed because it looked SO BADASS! She was of course a raider, could see it on the gear. This was back when you had to grind to exalted then pay an obscene amount of gold for the racial riding skill.

Back in the day this actually held a lot of prestige. Sigh.

I was at level 38 chilling in Stranglethorn with my tiger as a hunter
When a couple of alliance came and ganked me and laughed so I simply laughed back
I jumped at my body, ressurected and simply said "Yo Ally, smell ya later"
Went to Arathi Highlands and farmed some fucking trolls (South of Hammerfall)

Getting 2 epic drops and 1 blue babe, but still not enough Experience for leveling
I decided to do some dungeons and shit but that ended worse and I was always kicked out for making my pet growl
The tanks complained, the healers complained, everyone loved my pet and kicked me out of the dungeon
and I said **** it, time to go do Quests again

Days past and I didn't touch my hunter, without WoW without love
I decided to log onto wow and nothing had change
Oh no, hunter at 39 and I am nothing right now
**** it I said, I walked back into stranglethorn, took my quests and said "YEAH bby" time to level like a pro

5 hours later, and 150000000 ganks later, I was finally there .... With not nearly enough gold to buy my riding skills
But no problem for a friend who owned several level 60 with much gold
Tyr's hand farm can go **** it self
Borrowing few 100 golds from him I went back and said
"I can finally ride my wolf"

I suck at riming so deal with it

Warlock 60% ground mount. I remember doing something absurdly stupid to grind the gold for it, I think it was the repeatable lobster quest in Desolace at the troll village that gave something like 20-50 silver.

    It took a while.

I remember having to borrow the final few gold to purchase my Undead horse, because back then gold wasn't that easy to come by... Was well chuffed when I got it though.

I was lvl 37, and back in wrath we could only train 75 ridding skill at lvl 30, which means i was 7 levels late.

Here his the mount i got:

Edit: The dude on the mount it's not me.

  17. #17
I had to beg borrow and steal to get the 100g it cost for the Mount, then I go to buy and find out I need anther 10g for the training I was about to die. I did finally get it, and it was so epic. I couldn't afford epic land mount until lvl 66 that was also epic. It took me over a week of grinding quests to get my normal flying that was uber epic. Now I have normal flying and all other forms instantly its meah. I still only have epic flying on a hand ful of toons 4500g is still way too much.

I remember when I got my violet raptor... I must have been halfway to level 50 already cause I had no money before
I had no idea on how to make gold back then, so I just went to the Expanse in Thousand Needles and farmed trash for a few hours
I may still have the screenshots of my warrior riding it in Durotar the moment I got it.
