A little back ground on my gaming habits to help people out.
I currently have a atari 2600, nes, snes, genesis, n64, saturn, ps1, ps2, dreamcast, Wii, and an xbox 360.
None of my consoles are hooked up to the internet, nor do i play console games over the internet.
I have a pc hooked up to my TV that handles all of my media needs.
I don't play first person shooters, or real life style sports games.
I like platformers, shooters (bullet hell), Dance or rythem games, rpg's (not Mmo's), survival horror, and simple dumb stuff (katamari Damacy rules).

So, can anyone tell me why i would need a ps4, or what the ps4 can do that my current consoles cannot do?
Sony has always done well in the platformer department, you can expect a LittleBigPlanet (Sony's mario kinda) game or a spiritual successor to it + franchises like Jak and Daxter/Sly Cooper/Ratchet and Clank. Planetside 2. Just Dance + PS camera, Don't know but Sony has always attracted RPG developers. Survival horror -not sure if the The Order: 1886 is a survival horror but game but it seems like its going that way and its an exclusive.

It could always double as a cheap media box (when they patch in MP3 and DLNA...)

I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told my dad:

Even if the console is physically exactly the same, only with the name changed, it still does not matter.
In a year, all the games released will be available for the PS4 and not the PS3. When was the last time a game was released for the PS2? Exactly.

So you are in a way "forced" to buy it if you want to play new games.

I'm just laughing at the kid saying "buy a $500 gaming system just because, idk, ask the internet"

    That's pretty hilarious.

Don't. While I plan on buying one in the long run, being an early adopter generally isn't a great idea. There isn't much of a reason to own one right now, especially not if you already own a decent PC. Wait until it actually has a few games that you can't get elsewhere and they chase the bugs out of it, at least.

mine showed up yesterday with killzone, knack, CoD and AC4.

    the system is awesome!!!
killzone is the most beautiful console game i have seen. gameplay puts most ingame cinematics to shame. its hard, which i love.
Knack is a gem for all ages, idc what the guys at ign rated it. it is very fun and a nice change up from most AAA titles.
CoD is gorgeous and fun. i prefer killzone. the graphics are just a nice showcase of next-gen
AC4 as well, a fun game with gorgeous graphics. again, i thinkkillzone takes the cake for best RL type graphics during gameplay and in cinematics.

beyond that (and this may be damning AAA games), i have spent most of my time playing resogun and contrast (if you like the movie coraline, you will love this game). they are just simple and beautiful. i am loving the line up of indie games and cant wait to see what else they send us. flower is a trip as well.

i couldnt be happier with my ps4 GF is on it now playing flower. she kicked me off :P

*PSN has been having hiccups here and there, but overall has been working very nicely my only issue has been that dropping out for a few hours yesterday.

fifa14 has a ps2 version and the ps2 still sells well in many countries (poor countries). yes they still make games for it.

Continuing, from PSN, you get a free indie game every month... for 5$ a month or 50$ a year. Sony hasnt flip flopped on thier policies, they have taken the mistakes from Ps3 and improved the Ps4 from there. You get 1080p... and yeah. You also get the exclusives from Playstation... (( have refrained myself from talking about xbox one, didnt want to compare it to it or the xbox )) Those are the reasons I would get it, without talking about microsoft and their system of course... I could go into much more detail if I had. But yeah, thats why I want one, and getting one.
its 2 games a month, and dont forget that you get 6 very nice freebies on day one. resogun and contrast are both sweet imo.
