Poll: Would you push the red button?

    Question What would you do?

We're human. For all the glory and disappointment we create, we're as human as human gets. Sitting here right now I could write a song, maybe draw up the best script in the world. Maybe I paint the next great piece of work or invent some new science. In the same token, I can be used or I can use others. Maybe I get a job that unless I sell expensive stuff old people don't need, my job can be threatened. A female could get pregnant with my child and run off before I ever meet him. Maybe I create some new endless energy source knowing it can be used as a weapon. Maybe we play the "I'm stupid, drunk, high, sorry, whatever" and do something I know is wrong. Others who strongly embraced that path need no excuse to move past my excuses.

Still, sitting here right now I know I can be as thoughtful and nice as the next guy. However in my creation I am built to consume. Be it food, water or dreams, each of us makes our way in life grasping at points we take for ourselves. I cannot get to the end of my life without going though this path that requires a certain level of blood-thirst to be successful in this life and to feel pity or empathy means I'm predictable to the next guy not held back by such inconveniences.

So for fun, if you had the choice right now to end the world or preserve this current path of human nature, which way would you go?

Just you in a room with a red button. No anger, guilt, nothing.

    So emo.

Mass murder is a terrible idea.

Would ending the world be killing all humans, or all life on the planet? If the latter, never worth it. If the former, only worth it if we as humans are about to fuck right up, of nuclear level or such?

Human nature is on a pretty good path. I wouldn't end it. I want to see where we are in 50 years.

Let's all ride the Gish gallop.

It's all crazy talk. If you feel comfortable one way and not another, your post makes that clear. I'm still pretty sold on being an animal, so when I say world I mean world.

Though you bring up an interesting point I wish I had put in the poll.

Why would I want to kill everyone on the planet? I think you need some sleep.

I guess my biggest fear is us getting off this planet and bringing our human nature far enough to reach other worlds. What are we at that point? Embassy of peace or malignant tumor cells? Seems we embrace both qualities daily. Do you spare the hand when the arm needs to be cut?

I think that even the most vile and evil person who does not care about life itself, wouldn't be able to push the button just like that. (I know I wouldn't).

Even if you don't care for life, think of all the marvelous complexity that would be destroyed by pressing that red button!

I would not destroy all life on Earth.

If you would you should be under lock and key.

I wouldn't push the button if there were only one single decent person on the planet. I know there's a lot more than that.

Kill everyone? Nah. Give me a Death Note and I'll do the rest.

Btw OP I seriously didn't even read your first two paragraphs, they were so weird.

Well this is the weirdest thread so far today, I tried to read OP's post but I have no idea what he's really talking about.

Why would I want to kill everyone in the world? I think you might have some mental issues going on.

In an Universe of stone a Tumor is probably the most awesome thing that can happen.

It's a trick, the red button just kills you but you have no way of knowing.

Also, the people who think of humans as a cancer on the universe are silly as fuck.

There are more good people than bad people in this world. We should work together to make it a better place! :-)

It has been scientifically proven that the majority of humans would do bad stuff to other people directly or indirectly, should they not face any consequences.
