Experimental Treatments - How does one sign up?

I write this on behalf of someone else. I don't know him very well, but this someone else has skeletal cancer and his family, and ofcourse he himself, are desperate for any treatment methods. Regular chemo, radiation and surgery has been ineffective.
So I thought I'd ask; how does one sign up for experimental treatments?

They're ofcourse willing to do this in any country that offers it.
If you know any other alternatives, that would ofcourse be appriciated. They're grasping at straws.

Ugh my grandma was a Nurse and when she got cancer she quickly knew which programs to get in contact with. My best guess would be call a doctor who usually treats issues that your friend has and ask him for advice.

http://clinicaltrials.gov/ came up, but I know there are groups that speciailize in last hope scenarios. I just wish I could help more.
