    780 Classified or 7990

    Hi All,

I have the oppurtunity to purchase a new gpu. It will be either the 780 classified or the 7990, with the 7990 actually being cheaper by £50 as of this posting.

All the reviews are saying get the 780 because the 7990 is too expensive, but this is not a factor for me right now. So I really came to ask; I've never used AMD cards, heard horror stories about their drivers and stuttering etc (although I've heard recent drivers have fixed many of these issues), does anyone have some (unbiased) advice on which one to choose?

Power consumption and noise are not huge issues to me, so we can factor those out. (Have a 750w Corsair bronze PSU, so either card will not be strapped for power).

I'd say either the 780 Classified or the 780 TI: that one's even more of a beast.

I am using the 780 SC ACX myself and it's wonderful, just wonderful. Although AMD is not bad, not at all; NVIDIA certainly won this time, by far.
    Camilla: You, sir, should unmask.
    Stranger: Indeed?
Cassilda: Indeed, it's time. We have all laid aside disguise but you.
    Stranger: I wear no mask.
Camilla: (Terrified, aside to Cassilda.) No mask? No mask!

Wait for the second week of December where 290(x) aftermarket cards gets released, far stronger than the 780 and you don't have to worry about multi GPU issues. Also 7990 is not the best idea on a 750W PSU.

Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

The only benefit to getting a 780 Classified over a 290/x is the set of 5 games you get. (AC 4: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Deadfall Adventures, Painkiller Hell and Damnation) vs (Battlefield 4).

Note: The last two games for the 780 are EVGA-specific.
