    which is best?

hi, there is two gaming laptop computer that i saw for sale... im not a computer genius lol and im wondering which one is the best graphic card for a laptop running WoW maxxed out, with no lag...

the first laptop has: i7, Nvidia geforce Gtx 460m 1.5gb --selling for 750$

and the 2nd has: Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6 GHz Quad Core, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 --selling for 700$

or for the prices, would it just be better buying a desktop instead? thank you

The Radeon 5870 is faster than the GTX 460M.
But WoW depends to a large portion on the cpu power. So without knowing what cpu exactly is in the first laptop, i can't give you an answer.

Also keep in mind, that both laptops are fairly old (3+ years, although powerful when they were new tech) so i would be wary about warranty and stuff. It would probably be better to look for a newer laptop with a >2.0 GHz i3 or i5 and maybe a GTX 750M.

The mentioned GPUs compare roughly like this:

    GTX 460M - 3Dmark Vantage (P - GPU): 6700 pts
    Radeon HD 5870 - 3Dmark Vantage (P - GPU): 7600 pts
    GTX 750M - 3Dmark Vantage (P - GPU): 8200 pts

So, a current middle class chip beats both those older ones. And with an current i3 or i5, the performance in WoW would be definitely better.

    EDIT
Black Fryday / Cyber Monday deals:

    i5-4200 (2.5GHz), GTX 750M-SLI - $850

i5-4200 (2.5GHz), GTX 765M - $825 (with the matte 1080p screen, which is better than glossy anyway)

Those would wipe the floor with your old i7 laptops.

Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?
    Ryzen 7 2700X | BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 | 16GB DDR4-3200 | MSI X470 Gaming Pro | MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G | 500GB / 750GB Crucial SSD
Fractal Define C | LG 32UK550 | Das Model S Professional Silent | CM Storm Xornet

oh and don't except to run wow at ultra 60 fps on a laptop

with a 7-800$ laptop you can maybe run at high with 25 fps in 25 man raid

you will still be able to play fine, put it at ultra when solo/5man but might need to put graphic at medium or at least lower shadow to raid in 25 man and have a stable FPS
