Best game per genre

Putting ME3 as the best RPG as put you on my hate-list...
This will ofcourse be a highly subjective thing but, to but ME3 on RPG is just... mind-blowing.
And all of your games are very recent ones too.

Well, anyway.
RPG:Neverwinter Nights
MMO: WoW, the only one I've really played.
Shooter: Close call between Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament.
Strategy: There's turn-based and real-time strategy, so I'll compromise with 1 of each, Commander & Conquer: Red Alert and the Civilization series.
Stealth: The Thief series.
Racing: I don't play them.
Sports: I don't play them, they're all the same to me.

You forgot the Adventure genre!
In which ofcourse, there are a lot of contenders from teh good old days. I'd have to go with Curse of Monkey Island 3 on that one.

You also forgot Platformer, Puzzle and Indie, though Indie is a very broad term that could be any of the other genres. I just want some genre in which I can name Trine 1 & 2, the most beautiful, atmospheric and cozy games I've ever played.

Strategy: Any of the CIV games

Action: ratchet and clank any of the lego series e.g lego star wars also an oldy Vagrant story

Racing: I dont really like racers much as a genre but if i had to choose either Motorstorm or Burnout

Sports: Mutant league hockey

Sort of agree. The actual RP elements of ME3 are quite limited. Its much more of an Action game, and probably more of an Adventure then an RPG. But I'll term it as an RPG for the sake of it, just not the best example of one.

I'm gonna go ahead and do both console and PC. PC only is silly.

RPG : The Poke'mon games sucked much of my life away, if they're considered true RPG's.
MMO : WoW and Everquest both have large places in my heart, with my /played on my EQ character being depressing.
Shooter : I put so many hours into Starsiege: Tribes as a kid it's ridiculous.
Strategy : Age of Empires 1/2
Action : Ocarina of Time
Stealth : Didn't play too many, would say the stealth elements of FC3 were entertaining.
Racing : NFS: Underground
Sports : Probably FIFA, as that's what I most often play with friends.

I know, many old games... There are some AMAZING modern games as well, but the nostalgia factor is huge when replaying the older ones.
