You also have Smoke Bomb from your rogue. You should BoP your shaman when he uses Ascendance.
I'd do something like this:
6 warr banners
15 bop resto druid for tranq
18 unending resolve + balance druid tranq
20 Bomb/ranged group moves to melee + BoP/Ascendance
Put Healing Tide wherever you feel you need healing or just pop it at the start, then again at the start of each new stack phase to top people up. And definitely rearrange CDs if you find any serious holes in the rotation.
Additionally, I wouldn't solo tank your first kill. It requires a lot more tank healing than duo tanking, which you might not have the bandwidth for.
I have to agree about not solo tanking with a blood DK unless you are not going to high stacks, they get globaled quite often in the first phase. And especially at this gear level, you really don't need to expend any screech phase past 20, we got our first kill 2 weeks ago and went 16/9/13 and killed him at the end of the 3rd kite phase.
We didn't have a tank that could go dps so we 2 tanked it without problems. (Got boss to 5% before we even started fire phase).
We also had druid, pally and shaman as our healers. Our rotation went like this.
3-4 stacks - resto druid tree of life form, start lifeblooming everyone to 3 stacks.
5 stacks - Healing tide
10 stacks - Guidance
15 stacks - paladin aura
18 or 20 stacks - Paladin shield on Rdruid, then tranquility together with a Demo banner.
Then we end it at 26 stacks or something, depending on how long the healers can hold out. Remember tho, if you reach 31 stacks you insta wipe.
In the kite phase we make sure that we reach 12 stacks (It's neccessary!).
When poison phase starts up you should have healing tide ready around 5 stacks again, AND Tree of life form aswell. Which should keep you up until atleast 10 stacks.
We exited poison at 15 stacks but 10 is fine tbh.
Reach 12 stacks again during the kiting phase and then it should be a kill.
In frost phase you pretty much use the same rotation as you did in the 1st phase, with the exception of not having healing tide and tree of life form. But you should have some cooldowns available from your paladin healer.
Our biggest problem with this fight was the kiting. So easy to mess up and force a wipe.
-- Oh and a small tip for you, tell your boomkin to use Nature's vigil and pop it during the bats in the poison phase together with celestial alignment. We found that to do more healing than a tranq.
Rallying cry after demo banner runs out, personal cds after devo. Bop on the shammy and the druid can symbioses the pally as well, rotate healer cds where needed. If you kite like in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrWWONeODdw and release the npc at 12-13, you get 3 min between each phase and can do the same rotation each time. Depending on your dps you can kill it before the fire phase.
Not sure why all the solo tank blood DK hate, we just did it for our first kill yesterday and go to 25-27 stacks in p1, they might not be the best option but it's far from impossible.
Clearly it's possible but also far from optimal, the difference between a pala and a dk solo tanking this fight is night and die. We 2 tank the fight and it's fine. Solo tanking with a DK is just making a tricky fight harder for yourselves.
definitely do NOT pull a CD on 26 stacks. that's when you want your last CD to run out, roughly. we use a BoP on a disc priest before the 5th screech happens, then as that runs out, aura mastery. shortly after that runs out, BoP on a druid for tranq. holy pala uses all his CDs on like 7-8 stacks and hots up everyone as well. then on about 22 stacks we drop a pwd barrier and group up under it.
while that's up, blood frenzy won't proc. then that drops around 26 stacks and he goes into kiting 28-29. if you end up 1 tanking-3 healing it, make sure you transition into kiting almost immediatly after the bats spawn. you won't have cooldowns available, the bats do aoe dmg and the dps you gain from staying in that phase shouldn't be needed. also the poison phase dot is a pain in the ass.
make sure your warlock uses his imp mass dispell on CD to help out. the fixate is also NOT random. you can pretty much guarantee who gets hit next and especially the very first fixate is super easy to given a certain guy of your choice (everyone else stay in melee, one guy run 15y out).
that guy taking the first fixate should be a healer for the FIRST fixate phase and for the second, when poison dots are flying around and bats are still up, it needs to go on a dps.
on the frost phase you should aim to do 15-20 stacks again, if possible. one hand of prot should come up again during the phase and all other healing CDs are available. but don't over do it. fire phase you want to do max 5 stacks and then finish him off in that kiting phase. ideally with 3 healers/1 tank you kill ihm much faster though.
Your comp is reasonably similar to ours, but we opted for twohealing it with druid and shaman. We went for 19-12-10 stacks, and took the kiting phase to 10 every time. We found that our one tank could do more dps than two tanks together, because of the vengeance, and that a third healer didn't make the stack phases long enough to make up for another dps. The tank is indeed prone to take large spikes, but as long as you coordinate his cooldowns + externals (ironbark, vigilance, sac) it shouldn't be an issue.
Why do people keep saying to go for 10~14 stacks on poison... after you kill the bats its almost like a normal phase..
We have almost the same comp as you (At least for the healers) and we do 27/27/27 or if something is wrong we do a little less...
Poison phase is without a doubt the most straining phase. Unless your raid NEEDS to extend it cause their dps is low, then there's really no point extending poison.
We did 26 15 26 something, And we had the boss at 3% something when fire phase was activated.
3 healing and 2 tanking. Don't sit in poison for longer than you're comfortable with. If you get to the end and wipe on his last kiting phase, THEN you can start considering more stacks in the phases.
