You mean traitor Edward Snowden. Every week this dude just confirms that all he is, is an internet forum troll (Ars Technica in this case) who escaped the asylum. "Alternative Christmas Message"... his he for fucking real? I'm not sure if he's joking or just an idiot. What hole did this clown crawl out of? What do you wanna bet he's gonna deliver a New Year's Eve surprise in a vain attempt to remain relevant, right out of the Julian Assange playbook?

It's okay. He loses on account of, you know, getting to spend Christmas with his Russian handlers, and not with his family and friends like, you know, actual decent people. I for one, am having a wonderful Christmas.

    Cya in '14, traitor. =)

Skroesec as quick as ever to be in there when it involves snowden or manning, but I agree to some extent.

It seems a really childish way to get across such an important message he's campaigning for, really.

While I don't like the NSA this dude just needs to let it go. He's not doing anything at all except for talking about the obvious over and over again. Yay, you confirmed what everyone knew for years, you got your 15 minutes of fame, now he's just going at it as long as possible. They just need to hurry up and transform the NSA into the Minority Report. That shit works.

The rage and hatred directed at a guy that shined some light on the cockroaches in our intelligence community is hilarious. Cheers and merry Christmas!

I wonder if the American-English dialect doesn't include the term "Whistle-blower" or something?

Everything always seems to be coming up angels and traitors from the states.

    Such absolutism.

I'm curious as to what that message had to do with Christmas. It was interesting, don't get me wrong, but it seems a bit of a misnomer to call it a Christmas message.

You're speaking in meaningless and nonsensical terms. Its a representative democracy, that means by fiat the government is the will of the people. The people can elect new representatives, and recall if waiting until the next election is too far, but there's no such thing as "treason to its people".

Oh, you still on this topic? I see your prophecy (that he'd be extradited and definitely not granted asylum), which you highlighted about a dozen times so far (that I could see at least), is really close to being proven true.

Snowden is absolutely right about children born today. Not only will they have absolutely no concept of privacy, but they will also have absolutely no concept of not sharing everything with their friends constantly.

Things are most certainly not made better by a single country having such an aggressive stance on knowing everyone's business on this planet, in the name of protecting that single country.

Why did the United States get mixed up in WWII? Was it all selfish? Was it just to cover their own asses? I was under the impression they came to help the European people. Where is that help now? Instead of being helpful, they're being the aggressor. Perhaps we should be aggressive towards them as well.

They got involved because they got bombed by the Japansese. Upto that point they were just profiting off it by sending supplies to Britain on credit.

I do not, in any way, shape or form agree with how Snowden has decided to go about his whistleblowing.

I do however, entirely agree with his intent, and am extremely glad to see that because of his actions, there is now a ton of moves to completely reform and overhaul our entire intelligence sector within government. This is a very good thing.
