    Why another season & why no PVE?

    Forgive my ignorance on this one, but I've never been big into PVP. I've dabbled in the occasional BG or arena, but never anything serious. I honestly don't know what the different "seasons" mean apart from what I'm guessing is the PVP equivalent of a new Raid Tier in PVE.

    With that said, why would there be another season added?

    I've always been under the impression that, while PVP is very popular, PVE kind of took the trophy as far as the majority rule since Cata.

    So... If WoD is going to be "delayed" (as in, not coming out as soon as we thought), why would we add a new season instead of a new raid? Wouldn't a new raid hold onto players a bit more than a new season of PVP?

    I'm probably wrong, but I guess I've always had the idea that (made up numbers based on my experience) only about 20-30% of players actively take part in any sort of real PVP. And by "real PVP" I mean actually go out of their way to do it, rather than those like me who just do it randomly for lulz.

    I just don't really see it as a good way to hold onto a lot of players if the xpac is going to be "delayed". At least not a better way than putting out a new raid.

    Or maybe they're expecting a new season to keep PVP'rs occupied while the PVE'rs play Beta?

    Anyway, just curious if there was something behind this that I was missing. Just seems like if the expansion were coming out later than they made it seem that they would do something besides a new PVP season to keep players interested.

    Thanks in advance for any info.

    Well for one: A Raid takes far, far more resources and time to create than another PvP season. Unless they'd go for something like Ruby Sanctum (which everyone forgets about) it would take them a couple of months to create another raid, nevermind the fact that it would take away development time from WoD.

    A new PvP season on the other hand just requires them to slap some new skins on weapons and a gladiator mounts

    Edit: Oh, and if you count PvE only as raiding, PvE doesn't come out that far ahead. Just take a quick look at the Garrosh kills.

    WoD is not being delayed at all. If we were to get more PvE content then it would be delayed and that wouldn't solve anything.
    This PvP season requires no work from them at this moment in time because they already created all the items as a back up in 5.4.

    seasons dont last near as long as raid teirs most times. also we dont know that they wont add some garbage half ass raid like RS for PVE.

    Raids take a long time. An arena season lasts like 25 weeks. With 1 boss per week progression, something that would be pretty great considering the amount of times people are just stuck, you still wouldnt down heroic Garrosh before the season ends, never mind get everybody their mount.

    They also arent releasing new PvP content, although I wonder if there will be more gear.

    If they added a new raid, it would be really short. Blow through it in LFR/Flex once and then everybody bored is bored again. Most players are in progression or havent started it. Those who are in progression have no interest in it ending before they finish, and those who havent started raiding have nothing to complain about.

    There is no release date, it can't be delayed. People will no doubt read into it as being 'pushed back' to June though

    OT: They might just make the current conquest gear require honor points and remove the rating requirement on the top gear. Another season of gear could imbalance their World PvP changes.

    As others have said, it takes no effort. The prideful gear is already in files. Many pvp players are happy about this, so why not do it? As they said about why no 5.5, adding anything would take an equal amount of time away from WoD. So they won't. They don't have to add anything for this new season.

    I'm not against it, adding new stuff is good. I didn't realize they already had the gear and stuff in the game files, so it kind of seemed like they would almost be pushing the expansion back by creating more gear (artwork, etc) instead of pushing to the expansion.

    Having it ingame and just " hitting the switch" on something that's already there makes more sense.

    Thanks guys

    Seriously turning on another PvP season is trivial since they already planned for it. What I want more is to change Orgrimmar and reopen the Troll district.

    And the time that it takes them to do that is time WoD is delayed. No thank you.

    It really doesn't take all that much effort making changes that don't affect lore, atleast not when the changes are pretty much just replacing a few files with a previous patch. As far as changes for Oggri go that is.

    What exactly are you talking about? That kind of chances will be like the pre-patch. The "event", the thing that always happens.

    Only thing a new season takes is new art for pvp gear, so it's really not big a deal to flip a switch to change the season.

    Because Blizzard likes to slam us face down onto the table and ram their poles right up our backdoors.

    Infracted.

    I think its more like WoD is delayed.
    And that the pvp season has nothing to do with that.
    But a delayed game is fine for me,
    Delayed game > rushed game.

    As for why no new pve?
    Blizzard has already stated that there will be no new content befoure wod.
    They have decided to work on woD instead.

    There is no chance they will change this decition. Blizzard does not work that way.
    Even if they make a gigantic misstake, blizzard will keep to their solutions.
    Only when a decition proves to be game breaking will they do anything about it;
    And even then they will not change their position or revert the original retarded idea,
    instead they try to fix it with new (good/bad) solutions.

    Like so;
    Problem;
    Too hard to get into pvp.

    Blizzard solution;
    Baseline resilience.
    Originally not a horrible idea but it was executed poorly and was an overcomplicated solution to a simple problem.

    Atempts at fixing this idea;
    1. cut resilience from gems in half
    2. remove resilience from gear
    3. Battle fatigue
    4. ilevel cap in instanced pvp
    5. give resilience back for using pvp trinkets
    6. conquest catchup

    The proper solution;
    Lower the cost and buff entery pvp gear (HONOR GEAR) so much that it is nearly as good as conquest gear.
    Instead of spending an expac goofing araund; fix the problem in one reset.

    20-30%? try 2-3% that actively PvP, there is no pve because the story chapter is over and another season is given just so pvpers cant say ermaghurd 50 weeks season

    My issue isn't it being pushed back to June. It's being pushed back to September. June/July was the accepted "optimistic/trend-based" analysis. The pessimistic/past-trends-based analysis already said August/September.
    Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
    Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
    "Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

    It take far less development time and resource requirements to start a new PvP season then it does to create a whole new raid.

    WoD isn't being delayed, that's just the forums going crazy over Holinka's tweet.
    You just lost The Game

    Implementing a new pvp season doesnt take much time or effort. Implementing a new raid takes alot of time especially from devs.
