Why do you NOT tank?

So im sitting here at spoils in LFR waiting for tanks to come in, seems like the ones we had on Malkorok had already done the next two bosses.

I'm on my hunter right now (alt) and thought of doing a run before i go to bed, now im stuck here.

My main is a warrior, who i have always had tank as an offspecc, and i get valor capped every week by running a few LFRs (Prot warrior dps lallala)

Anyway, if you have a main character who has got a tank specc, yet you do not tank i want to know why, and while we are at it, perhaps we could discuss why there are so few people who go in LFR/dungs as tanks.

I didn't tank because I was scared I would mess up and get the group killed. Always levelled DPS classes. Then one day while levelling my Druid I specced as tank. When I joined I said to them. "This is my first time tanking, Will be a decent pace but just remember it's my first time"

It went really well, At the end they all said I did a good job, From then on I was obsessed with Tanking on my druid. Ended up getting to level 85 & joining a guild as a main Tank. The guild was amazing, We progressed really fast. Was in the top 10 in the server.

I got to know all the members(All Danish) , Raided with them for about 1.5 years. Got invited from one of the Guild members to visit and stay with them in Denmark for a few days.

Was the best time of my life. Went to the Capital, Germany and met there parents.

Anyway I digress. Tanking is awesome. give it ago.

What's the worse that can happen?

I don't tank because people are inconsiderate asshats who will try and make your life miserable if you even mention the fact that it's your first time tanking the LFR wing you're in.

Active mitigation is shit and is too much work except for warriors who just bind shield barrier to everything, I prefer wotlk/cata's passive mitigation.

I've tanked on my druid starting in Wrath, but I find myself avoiding it more and more lately. It started with Dragon Soul LFR. I don't like being the driving force of the group for the amount of time it takes to do an LFR run. If I'm tanking, I feel like I can't AFK even for a moment without people getting pissed off or complaining, or without making people wait for me. It's an added level of pressure that makes me enjoy playing less than if I were healing or DPSing, so I choose to do those things instead.

I'm playing a game- I want to have fun, and tanking isn't fun enough to be worth risking dealing with that kind of shitty behavior and negativity, so I choose to play other roles, since I find that to be more fun.

My main is a blood dk. The main thing i do is tanking stuff. But sometimes,especially lfr or flex its not rewarding enough and its simply to easy. On these moments i really enjoy to pick up my frost spec, and enjoy doing damage instead of getting yelled at like im someones dog. If we are a tank short im willing to reroll tank. But most of the time one of these tanks gets bullied away.. Than its worth waiting another 20min.. or i just leave. At that moment i. Just a dps anyway

I don't tank anymore because after gear there is very little you need to do compared to dps and healing. Which is saying something because gear just cheeses everything now.

There is no discernible scale of skill, you just need the correct amount of gear to make it viable and you're good to go. Anyone who can hold their own in a dps or healing role can turn to tanking with a geared character.

Even when I was tanking heroic raiding without an issue, People used to rage in dungeons because they died. My rule is...and always will be in dungeons. you pull it you deal with it

Considering hte numerous threads on the topic I'm amazed OP didn't include it in the options. I CAN play tank fine on multiple characters and I DO tank in LFR ltos with them. But I know only too wel lwhy the other tanks don't.

I always hated the fact that TANK druid shared gear with Rogue and Feral druids. Luckily in my 10 man group there was none of either.

Cause Shaman can't tank correctly yet. We have the Rockbiter enchant and some mitigation cooldowns. All we need is for Rockbiter to increase stam and threat generated and reduce crit chance incoming, as well as a nice Agi shield (perhaps possible in WoD), and we'll be on our way. OH, and a taunt.

How about a reward for the few dps in the group that carry all the dps doing 10k dps?

Or the one healer that is actually healing while the other 4 afk?

I tank, it isn't hard -at all- and I get the same crap everyone else gets.

You know, my tank queue is 15 min, my healing one is 1 min.

Maybe we should talk about the real problem

(Why do I not tank? because while being the MT is fun, being the OT anymore is boring as shit)
