    Budget Build, first phase

•Budget: Around $500, cheap as possible
    •Resolution: 1920x1080
•Games/Settings Desired: WoW, Diablo, Star Wars - hopefully fair setting in WoW in 25 man raiding
•Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc): No
    •Country: USA
•Parts that can be reused: HDD, PSU 750w, Radeon HD 5770, DVD burner. I could probably reuse this NZXT iBuypower case if I really had to, probably needs new fans, but I'd rather start fresh
•Do you need an OS? No
•Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? No

So here is what I'm looking at right now. Not looking to ever do SLI. I'm sure I will want to overclock the CPU at least some. I've already got this HD 5770 OC'd some in my current system (910GPU/1310memory and pushing). Later on I can add in a 270x, new PSU, and SSD

Trying to go for a blue scheme. From I've read, the MSI mobo looks simple to OC

    PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Fw06

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($34.98 @ SuperBiiz)
    Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($120.41 @ Newegg)
    Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($72.25 @ Newegg)
Case: Rosewill R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($73.98 @ Newegg)
    Total: $524.62

And what thermal paste should I get, with OC in mind?

The paste included with the 212 EVO should be fine. My personal recommendation is that Arctic silver compound, though other people disagree.

Ya, I looked at that case, but I just really didn't like it after reading reviews and such. I am open to better case suggestions, though.

I also couldn't find... is the on board gpu in the i5 4670k better than my HD 5770

Not really. The HD 5770 can play WoW with my Pentium G3430 on medium 1080p. So it's fine for now. Look at getting the R9-270x or the GTX760, though, as your next upgrade, or wait for Maxwell's midrange GPUs to come out.

    How about http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermal...ase-vl80001w2z

Or are you looking for looks?

It looks like I have a special Ibuypower edition of the NZXT Gamma, with a side window and fan mounted on the side. I think I'll just stick with that for now, to save money and hope I can fit my lefover into something I have laying around to make a TV box.

Probably for the 3rdd upgrade phase, I'm looking for good airflow for OC'ing, good cable management, and looks... I really like the black alienware NZXT look a likes. Hard to justify the money tho, with that 5770 sitting in there.

So, down to $440 dollars, hope I don't run into any problems!

If you haven't ordered yet, as this is a budget build, you can save 40$ with http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-z87pro3

Make sure that it isn't a special iBuyPower form-factor (such as a reverse-mounted motherboard) case before buying anything.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-200r is currently $50 after rebate, and is an amazing mid tower case.

Any reason you want the MSI mobo?
Until 27th theres a discount on this ram, making it cheaper than your pick:

No hassle CPU overclocking, fits the blue build, and crossfire support on the mobo. Same with the RAM.

Gonna end up filing it out like this:

Wasn't this budget build? 1k$ is not a 'budget' build.

And your Evo doesn't fit blue theme, http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-...14900cl9d8gbsr does.

Ya, well, I admit I got a little vain in the end. 20 bucks to get everything to match is no big deal

    Its blue!

I guess what I meant, more so than budget, is good price for performance... and looks pleasing to me
