    Best way to make gold?

I have a main warlock (Tailoring/Enchanting) an alter Shaman and i am leveling a DK. The Shaman has Herbalism/Alchemy but i wanted to change Herbalism to Jewelcrafting but i don't have too much gold to buy all the mats to level it up. So i was wondering if it was worth it to level up Herbalism/Mining on the DK to gather the mats and sell/use them to level up Jewelcrafting or if there is some easy way to get gold with the professions i have and use it to buy the mats and level up Jewelcrafting with the Shaman. Thanks

Leveling up gathering professions on your dk is absolutely free and can be done in a matter of hours so, I would say go for it!

Yeah thats what I do for gold, I have an alchemist, and a miner, and I just farm a shit ton of ghost iron ore and transmute it to Trillium then undercut but 50-60 gold on the AH and it usually sells super fast, and for 100% profit.

Once you get your dude to JC, you can make even more money by doing the above, but farm twice as much ore, and then prospect, then use Alch to transmute the gems to Meta gems, they sell for a shit ton as well. Not to mention the living steel. I like to wait until I see someone trying to sell a Sky Golem for cheap if you have living steel then I spam that I'm selling it in bulk and undercut like 100 gold from the AH usually make a quick easy profit.

If you aren't interested in profession shuffling you could also use the Halfhill farm on your 3 toons to your benefit as well. Planting Snakeroot seeds for Black/White Trillium & Ghost Iron Ore can profit decent gold over time if you do it everyday.

If your DK is tank mining isn't even bad for it. On my realm as it is, some jewelcrafting gems are cut going for 200g and that is a very high pop realm. Just study the market. Consider getting an addon like TSM if you wanna get serious.

Farm the mogu of the vale with a potion of luck for 2~hours, if nobody is doing the same you will get a shit ton of cloths and 30~40 chest key.

I recently started selling CM:gold runs (you could probably get in on that on your shammy), but other than that, I bought everything of any item on the ah (preferably flasks or pots if your server has a nice pve population, maybe glyphs or something) then sell it at a nice margin, invis pots are also a nice way to get money, the mats are cheap, but because the CM community is small, but willing, they'll pay enormous prices

there are other nice ways, like farming frostweave off of the fallen heroes north of ICC or some other trade material that fetches high prices

you can repeatedly chain-pull normal cata dungeons, and sell the boes to twinks whenever they drop (pretty much applies to any xpac's low level dungeon and twinks in brackets from an xpac earlier), get like 3k per boe and you get quite a few if you're lucky, especially with those 333 and 316 blue BoE trinkets

but playing the ah is probably the best way to make money, although it is the most tedious and it's kinda' boring until you get into it

also, maybe farming quel'dalar in icc 5mans might work, a lot of people want that achieve, it fetches some pretty nice prices to people on my server at least

most of the above seem pretty good too, especially farming the vale since you have a chance to get lucky and get alani as well as all the other stuff

Thanks everyone for the help, my main concern is which character should have the gathering professions. I have been raiding with the shaman and i don't really like it so i am not planning to play much with it, his professions aren't maxed yet so i don't mind to delete them. I want to have a gatherer toon since i will be leveling two or three more characters and i want to have one to farm mats. I am guessing that my mains will be the warlock and the DK so i don't really want to have herbalism on the DK because it won't give him any real benefit. On the other hand i wanted to have them because i can farm mats while i wait for the LFR queues to pop up. What do you guys think would be the best? (Sorry for the bad english)

I like to have my gathering professions on my characters that spend the most time in queues, and since I, generally, heal/tank on classes that can do that, my pure and only dps classes get my gathering profs-warlock, mage, hunter, rogue. It just so happens I made the jump from mining on the mage to tailoring for the sole purpose of being able to aoe farm cloth well. So, again, "gathering" professions, one of each, on all dps-only classes.

Gathering this late in the expansion probably isn't worth it unless you resort to botting (I am not suggesting you should).

Sell pets. I've made nearly 60k just from selling Timeless Isle pets.

I think the tittle was kind of misleading, i don't really want to have a gatherer character to make lots of gold, but to be able to gather my own mats and be self sufficient and be able to make my own gems, enchants, etc but i have been playing for some time and i have found that by just playing you make gold is fairly easy (i mean enough gold to optimize the gear, not loads of gold to buy all the expensive mounts). So now i am wondering if it is actually worth it having a gatherer toon or i am better off with the crafting professions and buying the mats in the AH?

I've made most of my gold this xpac with cooking. Up until a few months ago a stack of 300 food was going for 1k+. That combined with multiple farms and spending a lot of time fishing while watching movies and such was pretty much a gold mine for me.

Sadly this late in the expansion there aren't too many avenues for making gold that have a decent profit margin anymore. Right now I just work on getting a few more alts for next expansion to take advantage of daily cd's from various professions.

Yea herbs are going for dirt cheap on my server. If anything enchanting is your best bet. Just sell enchanting mats.

The only time I think it is worth it to have gathering professions is at the start of an xpac when mats are crazy high. Any other time and buying mats is more efficient than farming, even after patches when prices can go up for a time. This usually happens, so you can stock up beforehand. If you're willing to put in a little time to learn about TSM and reselling then you'll come out further ahead. You don't have to spend a bunch of gold to make decent profits; there are lots of niche items frequently posted for cheap that can be flipped for insane % profits. Those kinds of items are great for getting a start in the ah, or in your case saving up enough to buy mats to level a prof.

That said, I do have an herb/mine druid and sometimes just feel in the mood to farm. It's up to you in the end really.

Point 1 - Only undercut at that amount if your trying to crash the market and scoop everything up to re-list at a profit, 1-2g is enough to under cut by.
Point 2 - its not 100% profit, as you have spent time mining / prospecting / transmuting. Only time anything is ever 100% profit is when you buy something from the AH for and example 100g, immediately re-list for 200g and it sell's. What your doing is just selling something for way below its market value so someone like me can scoop it all up, prospect and turn in to a profit. In less time it takes you to go mine all that ore, I will have bought it, processed it, and have it back on the AH.

OP unless you are compleatly strapped for cash I would not bother leveling mining till your DK is max level as you can then just fly round Pandaria mining ghost iron to level up on. I would however grab any herbs you can find as your leveling, inscription and alchemy both need these for leveling and will sell at a premium.

also take a look at trade skill master addon.
Don't be alarmed at how complex it looks, there are loads of guides on your tube on how to use this extremely powerful addon suite.

I would assume using proffessions, although if you are good enough playing the auction house would also work.
