    whats pagefile and core parking?
So you seek more knowledge, young one? mwahahahaha

I'll keep it short and simple

Core Parking - when you have more than 2 physical cores, when CPU has low usage the rest of the cores are 'parked'. Essentially they are disabled until CPU reaches certain usage %. Due to Windows (*sigh*) limitations, the programs are usually limited to how much total CPU they can use. For example WoW doesn't go above 25% CPU usaged in Process Manager, so the Windows doesn't see the need to unpark more cores. That actually can limit most of the games. So you manually disable core parking, meaning all CPU threads are available all the time. On i7 you have 8 threads (4 cores + 4 HT) and windows by default has 4 threads parked, basicly reducing CPU power by half (mostly to reduce power usage).

Pagefile - when you are running low on RAM, like if you have 2 GB, windows moves data from RAM to a special file on hard drive (HDD or SSD, where it's set), this avoids a performance issues when you don't have any free RAM. But when you have 4 and more GB's, you will hardly ever come into such situation where you run out of RAM and you would need pagefile. Usually if a program is using obscene amounts of RAM, it could be a bug in program itself, those are called "Memory Leak" bugs. So pagefile has 2 negative things for your system:
    1) It wears down your SSD, as the information is constantly written to it.
    2) The system performance suffers, because SATA 3 data transfer rate is much MUCH much MUCH lower than transfer speed between CPU and RAM. If you want numbers: SATA3 is 6 Gb's per second, tops, while 4670k memory bandwidth is up to 25.6 GB/s, and one GB is 8 Gb, so it's 6 vs 204.8 (lulz).

    Edit: fixed stupid math D:

There are 8 bits in a byte not 1024.

Whoa.. im surpriced, and, wiredo'ed out.

all of that quite honestly made sense to me, - well somewhat atleast.
that explenation was superB, eventho. where / how do i find the controles to switch those on/off
is it in the windows starter menu? or the menu where you click f11 (i think it is) before the system boot?

    - about the SSD - is there any way to prevent it from wearing down constantly? i mean, besides not using it too stuff you dont use regularey?
in my case it would probably only be W8 - WoW - Elderscrolls i would place on it, would that "limit" the wearines? or does it tick of tiny bits no matter what i do?

This is nothing you have to worry about, most drives are made to handle several years of usage. 100 TB or so of writes is no problem for your average ~120 GB SSD, my drive is about 2 years old and only have 14 TB written to it and that is with plenty of usage (~17475 hours of power on time).

At a 10GB per day average, your SSD is bound to last 11 to 12 years.
The 10GB per day average is of course most likely overboard for a 120GB SSD so it'll probably last even more as far as lifespan is concerned, and will probably be outdated far before it dies on you.

    For Core Parking disabling:

    - Go to Regedit

    - Find this key:- " 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 "

    - Within this key, there is a value called: " ValueMax "

    - This value represents the % number of cores the system will park - the default 100% ie: all Cores are potentially park-able

    - Change the value from 64 to 0 so the " ValueMin " and " ValueMax " are both zero

    - You will have to find the key a few times and repeat the process for each time it is found - the number of instances will depend on the number of power profiles in your system [ in my DAW it was only found twice ]

    - Do a full shutdown and power-off and cold-re-start
    For Pagefile disabling:

It's a bit longer and here is article with pictures - http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ak,2911-4.html

Well if you only keep windows on it and a few games, it will probably last you for 50years or so :P
Also SSD will fail after 1 000 000 hours of being turned on (that's roughly 114years of being turned on 24/7).
    PM me weird stuff :3

    aight awesome.
reading some of the stuff for that pagefilling thing and got to this

"the fact that there is no virtual memory available to allocate means that subsequent crashes are quite likely"

    how likely is likely?
dosent sound like something a non pc guy <- like me, would want

Not sure what they are talking about :P
At worst case scenario you will be tabbed out of the game and a message will read "Windows is running low on (virtual?) memory. Close down blablabla".

I run WoW max settings @ 1620x1050 (can't remember the exact resolution, but it's close) at around 80FPS average in world, 70ish in 25mans with lowest 40FPS, with much weaker 270x, but my CPU is 4771.
So i went with Asus z87-A and the OS - + shipping prices it landed at 8499,- now just to get it home!
thank you all. took me a while as stuff happend irl.
