This episode postulates that various past civilizations were ruled by otherworldly beings. Examined are carvings in the Mayan city of Copán that are suggested to depict kings dressed in spacesuits; the Greek and Persian temples of Nemrud Dagi in Turkey, constructed by King Antiochus who some believe had advanced knowledge of astronomy and access to “magical” technology; the Nazca people of Peru who elongated their skulls to possibly mimic beings they encountered; the Moai statues of Easter Island that may have been erected with anti-gravity technology, and the Garden of Eden which may have been an alien laboratory for the creation of mankind.

I remember when the History Channel lived up to its name and wasn't just an amalgamation of shows about pawn shops, auctions and ghosts.

I think it's an interesting theory. It's certainly not any more or less believable than a guy who lives in the cloud with a white beard.

Santa is real and he lives on the North Pole! I've seen him during christmas. I understand the confusion though, as snow looks kind of like clouds

1 is logically possible the other not so much. Life exists here, we can see it, touch it, study it. The idea of alien life is simply life not on this planet which simply saying with our visible section of the universe makes it extremely likely. Magical man in the sky who knows all, is present at all times, and all powerful not very likely.

So only NEETs get to watch the good stuff, the people that benefit the least from learning new things.

I watched the first couple of series and really liked it, about 70% is really interesting archeology and the rest is enjoyable as the crazy ramps up.

This isn't bait. I would like a genuine answer.

I'm making an assumption here, but taking into account popular science fact that the galaxy is home to billions and billions of stars with billions of planets, there must be a good amount of habitable planets able to support life. I understand that the Ancient Aliens documentary's are poor but they do throw up some interesting thought processes.

Now let's make another easily imaginable assumption. What if one of those planets had sentient life hundreds of thousands years ago? They would most likely be miles ahead of us in technology. What if they have discovered a way to traverse the galaxy? Why is it so looked down on to even think that an advanced civilisation visited this planet thousands of years ago when we were in early development? I would believe this possible 10 fold over some of our religious gods.

Perhaps our knowledge of Gods is purely down to witnessing Alien life visiting the planet? Maybe the Aliens are our 'Gods'.

Personally, I don't know what to believe. I'm just mentioning this for argument sake. I don't understand how people can ridicule a plausible assumption like Ancient Aliens yet accept that people believe in our notion of God.

You should read up on the Fermi Paradox and the Drake Equation. Basically, there HAS to be life SOMEWHERE in the universe. The more exoplanets we discover the more likely this becomes via the Drake equation. However, with what we know about how space (specifically distance) and time impact one another, we could safely assume that even if there were an intelligent race or races elsewhere in the universe, they would either be A.) too far away for us to contact each other (due to light and radio waves taking millions to billions of years to reach one another) or B.) by the time we receive any sort of wave transmission from them their civilization could have easily collapsed.

Great answer. Thanks very much. Fermi Paradox was exactly the thing I was looking for.

    Any books you can recommend?
