What are the popular mmorpgs now days?
I am basing this on Raptr:
- WoW
- FFXIV:ARR
- GW2
- SWTOR
- Rift
runescape i would imagine.
There are an absolute ton of "popular" MMOs now. Whilst WoW obviously holds the lead by a massive margin, there are dozens of much smaller MMOs that still have active and popular playerbases (in no special order)
WoW
Rift
SW:TOR
GW2
Tera
Final Fantasy: A realm reborn
EVE
The Secret World
And less so but still with their own active playerbases
Neverwinter
Aion
Star Wars Online
Dragon's Prophet
Defiance
And soon to add so many more like:
The Elder Scrolls Online
Wildstar
Everquest Next
The Repopulation
etc.
I'm assuming this is for western markets only. You would get a totally different picture when you add in the eastern market
World of Warcraft
Final Fantasy XI
EVE Online
Ever Quest 2
Ultima Online
Warhammer: Age of Reckoning
Guild Wars 2
Final Fantasy XIV
Star Wars: The Old Republic
And Rift
Vindictus has the best combat system in any MMO i've played. Although the questing and the rest of the game blows.
Runescape has somewhere around 500k members and plenty more free-to-players.
the only unique game on all those lists is eve.. everything else is pretty much the same questing bs
and after seeing the defiance tv series i dont understand how they made an mmo out of a sci fi cop show..
Is Age of Conan any fun?
WTF? Is there a single post on this site not having the "WoW vs other MMOs" discussion?
opinions opinions.
I very much enjoy SWTOR,my goal is to level all 8 class story and dabble a little in endgame flashpoint and operation, like 2 night a week seems fine.
I enjoy the combat animation, be a jedi or a gun based class, the story, the setting and my current guild quite nice.
And i'm sure a lot of people enjoy other MMO as well, i know people playing GW2, rift or LOTRO and quite satisfied.

Will Tom Clancy's The Division be a MMO of sort or more of a "co-op" game like borderlands 2 or Diablo 3?
