I'm kind of surprised at Blade and Soul's numbers, they just recently announced a concurrency of 1.5 million yet their sales are half of GW2's.

Only 30m a quarter? Is that even enough to be profitable?

Well, China is a volatile market and doesn't show up much in box sales.

It should be, 120 mil a year roughly. About what SWTOR made from micro transactions in the same time period.

Don't most people claim SWTOR to be a failure?
SWTOR made at least 140 million in 2013 alone. At least they made enough to offset the ridiculous cost of voice actors.
F2P game World of tanks made 370 million in 2013!

Edit. swtor actually appears to have made closer to 300 million. Sounds pretty profitable to me.

SWTOR is one of the most successful games in terms of revenue after it went F2P. In fact, only World of Warcraft beats it out in revenue via micro transactions. Which are like the only 2 Western games that can claim to be in the top 5 most profitable MMOs.

The other games ahead, just under or on par with SWTOR are literally some of the biggest online video games for core gamers.

So, no. SWTOR is a very profitable and successful video game.

How accurate is that website? That is saying SWTOR made 139 million last year not including the amount made from subscriptions, right?

When you force transactions to actually see content, what do you think will happen?

    To each their own.

It's still f2p, it's still a success even if you dont like it (i actually didn't either), but hey, it's good to see that mmo's can still live outside of the classic sub based genre
Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

Fairly accurate. It was picked up and reported on by more than a few sites a few weeks back. At the very least it is in the ballpark of what we know based off of already established information. Keeping in mind, of course, few companies disclose the totality of their yearly/quarterly earnings openly.

We [general press & public] do know however that SWTOR is still profitable. Objectively, the game far from a failure. Though one may say it fell short of initial expectations in sales/revenue. Which is no longer relevant, of course.

Because Chinese revenue will not show up for B&S, it shows up under "Royalty", just like GW2 revenue in China will not show up under GW2 but under "Royalty". I expected GW2 to rise in revenue during Q4 '13. However, 2014 will not look good for the game unless it has a major update/expansion.

That $140 million for SWTOR doesn't include subscriptions.

I would really like to know how Rift is doing.

Trion are privately owned. They don't have to [and won't] disclose any of their earnings. So it's all guesswork to determine their revenue based off their investments and capital funding. Though they have money from like NBC, some Canadian firm and whatnot.

People consider SWTOR to be a failure because many of them expected this game to become a WoW-killer, most played MMO in history and such. It hasn't happened, unjustly high expectations (being a result of incredibly aggressive advertisement campaign - I guess this is where all this insane amount of money went for) were failed, and so those people claim that SWTOR is a failure.
But look at the facts. After 3 years, with so many other popular non-subscription MMOs, with titanic WoW, even after SWTOR itself went F2P, it still maintains a million subscribers and gets even more money from microtransactions. Among subscription MMOs SWTOR is one of the most popular, maybe even the second after WoW. I do not see it as a failure. At all.

Wait, I remember you saying multiple times that it would continue to shrink 25% quarterly until an expansion hit.

And 2014 is when the game will likely be releasing in China, so they'll get a decent revenue spike from that.
