Since Pop music stands for popular

Wonder how popular it is in a gaming forum ??
Something about this song is just so catchy. Not to mention the video rocks. I think it's the harmonica that does it for me.

I don't like it at all.

I listen to RnB (Thinking Silk, Joe, Older Usher etc).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ6AteOOsU8

And Spanish music (Mostly Bachata..because it's beautiful. Not sure about those who don't speak Spanish).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSyUWjftHrs

And some stuff like Passenger..I don't know what this would be..Indie pop? Or something I don't know rofl.

    Basically examples.

I don't listen to pop music but this song in particular struck a chord with me.

If you check this forum's music section, you'll notice that it's super diverse, but on the whole people are still pretty opposed to pop music.. just for being pop. It's kinda sad but eh.

But in regards to Timber, the song is flawless in my opinion. Ke$ha just makes it work.

I honestly didn't know pop stood for popular...thought it just meant pop as in fuzzy, happy giggly, burppy type of pop 0o

That would be bubblegum pop you are describing methinks.

I can't get past the video and how SJP Ke$ha looks.

It's alright, but I wouldn't put it in any of my playlists. Typical pop song in that it has some catchy moments.

Yeah no. I have heard this song far too many times at work to critique it to death. More often than not, I find it horribly annoying hearing people combine completely different music styles. It can work, but I often find it is done so poorly they didn't even try that hard. I can see why some people might like this song, but Pitbull certainly ruins it and Kesha's messed up voice, sounds like a tad bit of auto tune was used, drives me up the wall. The harmonica does sound cool though.

I did know that pop meant popular though, and thus I see some of the things that pop music consists of, and being a musician, I just feel like most people have not introduced themselves to legitimate music and are thus just ignorant of how amazing actual music can be. Carry on.

I was raised on Classic Rock, but in recent years I've branched out into other genres, pop in particular and I love this song. Sometimes listen to it for a good long while on trips up the M6 to visit my family. Love overtaking listening to this

    That's... music?
    I think not.
Classical, opera and sub/genre's of house and electronic is music for me.
I'll even give credit to some rock, where credit is due.

She was bulimic at the time. That's why she looks like.. that. Luckily she's now in rehab to sort herself out.

Ohh Ok, That is good to hear she is trying to get herself better.
I still prefer Janelle Monae in the realm of pop tho. ^_^

Care to explain how pop isn't music? Pretty ignorant to say that.

Also, Smeeh is saying that your post is so edgy that could cut some one.

I'd say more myopic than ignorant.

Today's pop music is more about squeaky-clean production, digitally enhanced within an inch of its life in order to appeal to an audience and make money. The pop stars are more about developing a brand than real personality. Classical, opera, symphonic music, chamber music, etc., is music for the sake of music and doesn't generally concern itself with pleasing audiences in the same way. It is true art. Most pop music is not art in the same sense. I know most people will argue with that.

I just want to say thank you for putting to words the thought I have had for years about pop music.

I tend to like just about any kind of music, but pop and rap usually rub me the wrong way.

I hear everything that sounds nice, so heck, why not some from everything?

There needs to be a certain "This" to it, its different for everyone. Pop songs? Count me in, count me in on everything. There just needs to be "This!"

You know you can say the same thing about classical, opera, symphonic music, chamber music, etc too right?

I mean if we follow your logic, this is more music than anything you listed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGzrL8J0t-c because it doesn't concern itself with pleasing audiences in the same way as most pop music, operas, classical music, etc.

Can't say i'm a fan of this particular song. The harmonica is the only thing that works for me, and even that manages to bother me at the end which is strange as I'm usually never bothered by repetetive music (I can listen to leekspin or nyancat for hours without problems). I generally don't like Ke$a's music though, so that might be the reason why this didn't work.
