Does Samsung basically own South Korea?

As the title says. With their influence and money.

Probably just as much so as powerful corporations own the US. So...yes.

There area couple of big tech companies in SK, Samsung isn't the only one (e.g. LG). In addition, I don't really think they have that much influence since SK internet policies suck hard and you'd think that if Samsung or LG had that much influence they would change that.

Only 25% of South Koreas export is Samsung, so they don't own South Korea completely

    No... no... way more.

Samsung, Hyundai, and (I think) Daewoo pretty much have the South Korean government by the short hairs when it comes to many matters.

Those three companies ARE South Korea. When Samsung threatens to move operations or change suppliers or blah blah blah... it carries a LOT of weight.
