ESO looks really good. Hopefully it will kill wow.

Was going to say GW2...but never mind.
If your sub is still up, just play WoW until ESO comes out and then give that a try.It would be dark inside my head...if not for the fires...

SWTOR is free to play and has excellent stories, get to max level on two characters (1 from each faction) and decide what you want to do from there. It will keep you entertained for a month or two at least.

Action MMO
- Vindictus has the best action combat in the MMO genre but it's a lobby dungeon crawler. If that's what you are into, then you will love it.
- Dragon nest has action combat that could be considered on par with vindictus but it's more like kingdom hearts, it gets a lot less development than vindictus which gets regular updates. This is also a lobby dungeon crawler.
- Tera is probably the best open world action MMO. It's very grindy.
TPS/FPS MMO
Firefall is sort of the last man standing right now for open world. Defiance is almost development dead. Global agenda and Tribes Ascended are development dead. Firefall is a lot of fun but it's just starting to develop its end game. There's also Warframe but that's a lobby based dungeon crawler.
Gen2 MMO
I like FF14s instances more than I like swtors. However, swtor has better PvP and a built in starconflict PvP mode. I couldn't get into lotro or aion as much.
APRG MMO
Path of exile is the best ARPG I've ever played but marvel heroes is more of an MMO.
Starconflict
Because elite and starcitizen haven't launched yet.
Note: Lobby based MMOs tend to have better combat, animation, graphics, ect but they tend to lack that MMO feel.(Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
