    02/10/2015 - Liberation Day

Let this be remembered as the day that Marvel's creative (and legal) geniuses freed Spider-Man from the clutches of greed and evil in order to restore him to his rightful place among the elite super heroes. Let us all rejoice. Hurrah. It would be kinda cool if they could keep the new actor hidden until after Civil War launches and have him revealed to the world both in movie and in real life. That would be the craziest thing ever actually.

That sounds pretty awesome. Although if Spidey is just a cameo I doubt that his unmasking thing will even happen. Especially as Civil War in the MCU won't be about secret identities.

I would totally be up for that.

Yeah from what I read it's going to be very different, but it was such a landmark moment in all of comic history that it would be amazing to replicate that and break the 4th wall at the same time. Essentially having Spider-Man's first appearance in the MCU be him unmasking himself while also being a surprise for the audience would be pretty cool.

It would be nigh impossible to pull off just to keep it a secret, but also to avoid his voice giving away his identity...oh man though...the feels would be so nuts.

Regarding the costume, personally, I'd be happy if they used the ASM2 costume. It was spot on perfect for me. I don't see the costume being something they'll deviate from to distance from the other movies. That costume is one of the most recognized characters worldwide and Marvel's MCU has been pretty faithful to costumes on their first go rounds with minor tweaks afterwards.

One thing that interests me is that inserting Spider-man has caused the schedule for phase 3 to be reshuffled and it has pushed the Inhumans movie after Infinity War: Part 2.

In the comics, the Inhumanity event, was a direct follow-up to the Infinity event. When the Inhumans movie was in between the two halves of Infinity War, I assumed that the Inhumans movie would specifically deal with how the Infinity War related to Attilan and the Royal family, and that if a terrogen bomb was dropped, it wouldn't be until the tail end of the movie. But now with it being after the end of Infinity War, the Inhumans event can instead focus on the fact that, due to the actions of Black Bolt, the number of superpowered individuals in the world has increased by several orders of magnitude overnight.

Probably one of the few people who actually don't mind Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. I think he's a fantastic Spider-Man, not so much as Peter Parker. Course, that's probably due to the writing of the character.

I don't think any of them should or could be Spider-Man. A pox on that.

That would be freakin AWESOME! All but impossible to do in this modern era of internet snoopery... But man if they could pull that off it would be pretty damn great!

Especially if they seeded the actor into all the previous movies, just in background roles and minor cameos and whatnot, so that when the big reveal happens you're like "Oh sshhiiiiiittt it's THAT dude!"

one way of doing it that i saw online was to have him be unrevealed throughout the movie, everyone thinks its peter. then he takes off his mask and it turns out its miles morales.

but yeah as others said. had the deal been made sooner i could see something like this happening, but at this point idk how they could put the unmasking bit in without it feeling forced

variety is saying a few things about the deal, saying no money will be xchanged via the movies and that the spin offs are still in development without fiege.

i havent heard anything about this from any other places who have better sources and everything i know about the deal they were trying to work out involved both sides getting a share of the movies.

the variety stuff might be true, but id remain skeptical until more sources chime in

My only real concern with a Ms. Marvel TV show is that it might be difficult to show off the full extent of her powers on a TV show's VFX budget. Of course since we are dealing with something that would happen 5 years from now at the earliest, who knows.

TV show or not, baring unforeseeable events such as her character's popularity taking an unprecedented nosedive between now and then, I can't see them doing Inhumanity after Captain Marvel is ingratiated into the MCU without including Kamala Khan.

So according to that article Sony will still have full creative control over the Spider-Man movie.

    Is that good or bad?

all they have is veto power. they have no real creative control, and its unlikely they will veto much if anythng because sony japan was about to roll heads when they fucked up the first deal

I do worry for the future though, if Sony ever gets back on it's feet. It seems they still have the rights to make films with Spiderman related characters, hence the continued talk about the S6. Now that isn't an issue at the moment - we can trust that Sony is in such disarray that it won't get made. But suppose Sony recovers from this position, perhaps even partially as a result of this deal. Wouldn't that then allow a slew of Sony films to invade the MCU? With nothing Marvel could do about it. It surprises me that Marvel didn't cover that base.
