new ram stick causing PSU to die?

    Hey all,

Built my brother a PC a year ago, he recently bought a new ram stick (exact same module, windows picks it up and everything). Installed fine, but the next day it refused to boot, fans would spin up but nothing would happen, faint static sound could be heard from inside (sounded like it came from the CPU power connection). Tested the PC with my own PSU and it booted just fine, so the obviouse thing would be to assume it was the PSU (Corsair CX600).

Bought a new PSU, same brand, Corsair CX600, same thing happens a week later. Doesnt boot, fan spins, static sound. Again tried my own PSU, works fine.

Just found an old PSU I had forgotten about, Corsair TX650 (i think) that I have just stuck in for now. But now im worried if this new RAM setup is gunna do the same to this PSU like it did to the other 2.

Assuming this is even possible, should I be worried? Or am I just really unlucky? Specs below:

    Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz
    MSI H77MA-G43 Intel H77
    Corsair Vengeance 4GB x 2
    GTX 560Ti
    Windows 7

    Thanks for reading!

Honestly, people have complained about the CX series for a while... But I've notice a large rash of this exact problem with that line. It's probably just a bunch of bad CX's.
