** Heartstone is unplayable for new players **

    Hi -
Its impossible for a new player to play Heartstone and advance in ranks. What was/is Blizzard thinking?
As soon as i enter a match im directly matched up with a legendary player who toys with me for 10 min and then just finish me of in one strike with his/hers epic and legendary cards, i have not a chance on earth to win.

I find it disturbing that to be able to win you have to buy your way to all the "fancy" cards. Why not just put all the professionals in one group and us noobs in one?

Just the way this game works.

Want to advance in Rank when you first play? Spend cash

it is a bit rough when you start, it become a bit better when you opened a few pack, get the card and/or dust you need.

Best advice is to try to build a deck using basic cards and dust to craft some for ONE hero and stick with him until you get more card. You won't have enough ressource to build multiple deck when you start.

Try some arena as well, the playing field is leveled in arena (though RNG is still god)

I dunno, played a bit on the day it was released, won a few times, lost a few times. Is it that bad now?

People think you get to lvl10 on a character, not open a single booster and they are suddenly equipped enough to play in competitive play?
Its the WoW equivalent of showing up to a raid in quest greens.

Well legendary cards are kinda broken. They should put a limitation of legendary allowed per deck at low level tier.

Well thats odd, people have recorded their climb to legendary rank without paying any money. Sounds like a personal issue.

If you are playing Casual, it's a no-holds-barred fight between everyone whether they be noob or elite. It's a bit better if you play ranked because you are more guaranteed to be matched up to someone close to you as everyone has a hidden personal rank for the match-making.

I have no problems getting up in ranks and while I play since 08/2013 (more or less active) I don't own any legendary or special rare/epic cards. There are good possiblities to craft a deck without expensive cards or you could just start with arena and get your gold/cards from there.

I was intrigued by Trumps attempt to get to Legend rank without spending money so I tried it myself. Got to rank 10 ish in about 4-5 hours play, without spending a penny and only doing the one free arena run for 2 packs.

Baddies will be bad, that's the blunt, honest truth of it.

This game is 80% chance, 15% cards and 5% skill.

It's good that you can admit that. Don't worry keep practicing and you'll get better.

Yup, Trump got to legendary as a mage (one of the weakest ranked class) in ONE week without spending a cent.

I've got a rank 15 mage deck with no epics or legendaries. No, you're not going to be able to hit rank 1, but you can find a niche that suits your skill and deck quality. And rank 20 is all it takes to earn the season's card back reward.

In my experience, you don't start running into legendary-heavy decks until about rank 16, and even then it isn't a constant occurrence.

It's all about luck, really. A lot of 'legendary' cards can be completely shut down by the most common of abilities. Luck of the draw, for example, can mean you draw a Hunter's Mark just as you opponent drops and Arena Champion for defense. Not everyone is going to be that lucky. This is where skill comes into play. By skill I don't mean playing the right card, I mean putting the right ones in your deck to begin with.

there are plenty of decks without epics/legendaries you can play and get to <15 rank

myself I had deck with only 3 rares and others basic/common and got to rank 10 last season

Unplayable?? I just started playing after they offered the in game mount for three wins. The mount was easily gained and since then I have earned enough ingame funds to buy more packs and expand my decks. I haven't spent a dime and am holding my own 80% of the time. I am not a hard core gamer and except the losses along with many wins. I suggest you go back to practice mode and learn more about the game play. As someone else has already stated this game is mostly luck of the draw even with upper end decks.

you could look up trumps playtrough on EU where he goes from nothing too legendary.
without spending a single euro and only using ingame gold/dust too make the deck he wants.

while ofcourse he knows what for cards too craft, new players could learn from this.
look up how legendary ranked players play a class you like and what for cards he/she uses in it.
then start doing what trump did and just start playing and buy packs, that what is usefull you put in and the rest you DE so you can craft cards that would be usefull for what you're going to do.

or just do it like me, and ignore all other decks and build your own and change it around till you feel comfortable with it.
you definitely do not need too spent money too get a decent deck. just takes a bit slower too get the optimal setup you might go after.
