I hate PVE. Why do you guys find raids/dungeons appealling?

A valid point the OP brings up is how do guilds who clear heroics in decent time continue to do the same instance with no progression for several months.

At that point it usually gets down to a one night clear, and the rest of the time in game is spent doing other things. I used to play alts a ton back when I raided in a high end guild and the instance was on farm.

Also attempting to cheese fights, underhealing, one tanking, trying to get ranked logs, selling kills, etc, are all ways to try and keep the main raid fresh.

Another guild I was a part of in DS would split up mains and have two groups of half mains/half alts.

Yep, I read the post too, mostly just him complaining about PvE and why he doesn't like it. That's not the same as trying to convert people to PvP.

This. After beating the bosses I've usually started to look towards obtaining the best gear possible and hitting ranks for dps (without excessive padding). That's what I like, OP doesn't and that is just fine. Do what you like to do.

What are the moments in raids do you have great memories of?

Just about this specifically. One of the main reasons why I love raiding is the feeling of pure euphoria after defeating a really hard 25m heroic progression boss. Although you can just youtube end boss nerd screams, experiencing it is whole different beast. Killing heroic 25m Lei Shen while it was still relevant after about 300 pulls was easily one of the best feelings I've ever experienced in a video game. So, just in terms of what are the moments I love about raiding, getting kills on a heroic end boss is one of the many reasons I love PvE. This is also one of the many differences between LFR/Flex raiding and Heroic raiding. When I kill a boss in LFR/Flex I immediately think "jeeze, I'm so glad that is over, let me get out of here." Meanwhile when I kill a boss in heroic (especially super hard end bosses), I scream and feel great. Then I can't wait until the next tier, hoping I can replicate that feeling. I think this is true for most heroic raiders. That great feeling of teamwork, comradery, accomplishment, and pure euphoria after a hard-fought heroic end boss kill drives us to keep coming back for more, tier after tier.

I don't really find dungeons that appealing - aside from Challenge modes, those are pretty fun. Raiding (LFR isn't raiding!) , especially heroic raiding is a great experience though. One of my favorite aspects about it is just pushing your character to it's limit and really trying to see the hardest content the game has to provide

I mean, I really hate it.

I don't understand why any one does it repeatedly.

When Wrathion quest forces me to do BGs, I start sabotaging (particularly Mines) the moment I see the gankers I ended up with will not carry me easily through. I always enjoy and savour their curses when that precious shiny cart goes somewhere else than they though they sent it to. Deathgripping "enemies"'s warrior closer to "my" mage trying to run from him. Other such fine pastimes.
I sometimes even take time to taunt the PvPs for their pathetic attempts to get me marked for Ordos sacrifice. When doing celestials on a PvP realm I always end up killing 10-15 gankers and contributing just a bit to downing the celestial, but don't feel overly happy, it's just some scrapped gankers I despise and prefer to avoid or ignore than kill, not the boss I actually want to down.

Well, I hate arenas, and I can't for the life of me fathom what's supposed to be so cool about them. I find them simply horrid. Always have, since the day they were introduced, and I doubt I'll ever like them.

But I like PvE.

So... to each their own, I suppose?

I can see why someone wouldn't like PvE... having to deal w/ raiders and their incompetence. Classes using a very small portion of their abilities and only repeating. Little to no movement involved, typically standing around waiting for the next mechanic. I did both PvE and PvP. PvP is definitely more fast paced and requires you to constantly be paying attention. I like PvE because working w/ others to defeat a challenging boss has always been a trait in video games that catches my eye. Ever since Gauntlet Legends for N64, I've loved Co-op games. There's just a different feeling of killing a boss w/ 24 other people and killing an arena team w/ 2 of your buddies. I happen to like both... but not everyone enjoys both.

PvP is is even more repetitive. I hate PvP, but I don't go making threads asking people why they do it. I find PvE appealing because I like the content, and that's all that matters. Now you go kill enemy players and leave me to my internet dragons.

Everything you listed can be applied to PvP. Don't look at LFR as an example of PvE, look at normal (soon to be heroic) as a good standard of raiding.

As far as why I play PvE - it's the social aspect. Running raids with 9 of my pals, joking around and killing difficult bosses together, that's what I like about it. Gear doesn't matter. Hell, the content itself barely matters, as long as I have something to kill with my friends.

Likewise. Other than my bro, I don't actually know anyone else in my guild or guild raid group. But everyone gets along really well and we joke around often, but are serious when it matters. It's the main reason I am still raiding. I had horrible raiding experiences in various guilds in the beginning of Wrath after I was forced to when my actual friends left after TBC (it can be tough finding a cool guild again). I vowed not to return to raiding until I found a good group of people. I found that at the end of Wrath and haven't looked back. Good people makes the game fun. If you're alone it is incredibly boring. JMO and I stand by it.

Raised in a very athletic background, it was both hilarious and very insulting to play against most people who trash talked. They'd crack a range of jokes from "yo mama" to insulting your looks or game. In contrast, I have come to find that trash talking in gaming is rather sad. They typically just call you "noob" or scream "OMFG U SUCK" or profanities. Because of this, PvP does have a boring, sour taste in my mouth.
