    This game is great

Such beautiful graphics, great voice acting, great PVP maps, great abilities, cool classes, cool environments, cool everything FFS it feels like you're playing what Episode I, II, III should have been in terms of writing quality. Wish it had more success, it does everything so well. Animations could be more fluid and responsiveness more snappy, but that's it.

would be better if there werent so many loading screens though, takes away from the immersion when 1/2 the time your just sitting at a load screen.

Whole that's a terrible over-exaggeration of load screen times or you have a terrible PC (or ISP), I will admit there are a large number of loading screen. There still no where near half your play time.

Indeed. It has quietly become a very solid game. It had a great foundation and they've used their cash shop earnings to flesh it out fairly well. I wish I had more time to play it, because it's a nice little game.

I dunno, if I want to play a toon that is going to Alderaan, I have them load into Alderaan before I go to work or school, and hope it is finished by the time I get home. :P

    Exactly.

I know there are a number of load screens that can be aggravating. Some taking slightly longer than others (AKA Alderaan and belsavis in particular)

Yet, they never take longer than 20 secs or so. Sure it's kinda long but you people have some amazing exaggeration going on or your PCs are really just terrible (I guess you could have a bad ISP too).

I was someone experiencing lengthy load times. Installed SWTOR out of curiosity when I just built a new cpu which included a higher i5 and a Samsung SSD and a new GFX Card. Suffice to say that load times are no longer an issue and neither is any of the other game's performance. That being said, most people will not be running rigs like that or better.

if you have a SSD drive running the game then yes your load screens will not be THAT long. but a LOT of us do not have SSD Drives, therefore we are seeing much longer load times.

My loading times are on the average spectrum. Belsavis , Alderaan, Hoth and maybe Makeb take up to a minute to load. The rest anywhere from 15sec to 45sec. I can manage that, my PC is on the lower end.

Even without the SSD most of the load screen aren't that long (usually around 10 seconds) some of them are painful though run into 20 seconds or more. I find it is the number of loads screens that is the biggest pain.
That said while it is a little annoying it still doesn't spoil my overall enjoyment of the game.

I've found flashpoints actually load pretty quickly for me. It's the load out of flashpoints and back onto planets that's annoying >.<

load times are about 2-3mins for me but i am not bothered by it at all. my pc is crap (20-30fps solo) i would trade 20 min load times for smoother experience in game.

fortunately i'm upgrading to an i7/gtx 780 rig for watchdogs/eqn/star citizen sometime soon so yeah i'm finally going to be able to enjoy all the games i've missed these last couple years.

though i will say even on my craptastic machine the game runs much much better than it did at launch. can't say i'm unhappy with the direction swtor has gone.

It's great you really liked the game. Happy hunting!

I disliked the game however. I agree with you, it looks beautiful, voice acting is nice, story and characters... well, it's Bioware. But what killed the game for me was this traditional MMO grind. Grindy quests like "kill 30 bad dudes, kill 20 more, kill the boss, drop his ID into mission dropbox. Grindy crafting where on later levels you have to wait 50 minutes for your companion to craft an item. Grindy daily quests on level 50 and 55. Grindy Galactic Starfighter where initially you have a piece of !@#$ ship that you can make into something more-or-less decent only after 100 games or so. Grindy companion loyalties (buying 200+ presents in an hour to boost the influence for Jorgan almost made me vomit). Grindy open world zones where the same types of enemies stand around passively, waiting for you to slaughter them.

I come from single player RPGs though. It may be that all MMOs are like that and I just don't fit in the genre. But after KotoR games I really expected something more than "destroy 10 armory deposits" and "kill 30 Voss droids".

I want to ask this question as well. Yes, loading screens can sometimes last up to 1 minute on my outdated laptop (which is terrible, considering that WoW has never taken more than 20 seconds for me, and Guild Wars 2, well, loads up almost momentarily). But, seriously, 3-5 minutes, as some people say? Do such guys play on a calculator or something?

Yeah right now, besides WoW, it's the only MMORPG worth playing. However it has two problems:

    1) Bioware has cut down their team and spend most of their time developing cartel market it seems. I'm a founder and last time I played was three months ago. Same effin game. Classes play basicly the same. Come on...

    2) F2P. Leveling new char and want to do low level dungeon - nope, f2p players. Battlegrounds? F2P players have limits on battlegrounds, so queues are long (and no cross server bgs, come on...) and if you try to queue up in other timespan than 18:00-23:00, you're out of luck.

Very disputable statement. I find Guild Wars 2 to be miles ahead of both WoW and SWTOR in terms of leveling and combat system.

SWTOR is actually the weakest among 3, I would say. It just feels "cheaper", although it was the most expensive to develop. It is all in little things. Like, in WoW and Guild Wars 2 all merchants look different, have different names and so on; in SWTOR, there is one medical droid spread across the galaxy, saying exactly the same generic things: "You are fit for duty. Return to your post". In WoW and Guild Wars 2, music is amazing, while in SWTOR it is a collection of tracks from KotoR 1/2 and a few background themes with no real music behind them (like that on Balmorra or Voss - a number of lasting sounds). In WoW and Guild Wars 2, every zone looks different, even some parts of zones look unique; in SWTOR, Balmorra looks the same in every location, Nar Shaddaa looks the same in every complex, Voss looks the same on every plane... It is as if WoW and Guild Wars 2 were made by artists, while SWTOR - by marketers; it is the impression the game has left for me.

I wouldn't waste buying an i7 when some i5 in comparison is just as good performance when it comes to gaming.

  20. #20
i7 has hyper threading, i5 doesn't. The extra performance you get from the i7 isn't applicable to gaming because the vast majority of games won't use the 4 extra threads you get with an i7 (total of 8). Most barely use the 4 logical cores you get with an i5.
