Hey, if they're planning on forcing players to wait 14 months between patches for new content, might as well give everyone with WoD pre-purchases access to the damn open beta.

Not sure why they still call garrisons housing. With all the information that has become available it is rather clear it is not housing. It not optional, it is not flexible, it is a plot device linked to the story, and most importantly of all at the end of WoD it is basically useless. People define housing a lot of different ways, and mean different things to different people however permanency is hugely important to housing, and without any plans for it post WoD, *for me* it is impossible to see garrisons as even resembling housing.

It is not player housing, that is correct, but it is the next best thing to player housing. Blizzard has said several times that they are experimenting with this type of thing and that Garrisons, along with future content similar to Garrisons, aren't considered as housing, but as a step towards player housing in WoW.

It was scrapped in vanilla, and now Blizzard wants to develop a better version of player housing than what the norm for it is in most MMOs.

Garrisons might be the thing that finally moves me off of WoW. It's looking more and more like it will be a mandatory part of progression and require some fairly serious time investment. If that isn't the case and it is purely optional (like farming or pet battles) then it will be fine. If it's required though, then I think I will walk off into the sunset. It just holds no interest for me whatsoever.

nothing released about garrisons so far shows that it's necessary for progression. a lot of players are going to love it and spend tons of time on it, though. a friend of mine that plays spends loads of time on things like the farm ranch, pets, etc... they're gonna go nuts on garrisons.

They've handed out keys like this since BC buddy. Giving them to fansites and famous youtubers to hand out in contests for free. Where else are they going to get ordinary players to test the beta?

Don't suppose you have a link to that? I don't recall hearing anything definitive, and the more I read about garrisons the more I get the impression that they will be required.

Kind of mad that I went to Blizzcon and got no invite but PAX does. How about you reward the people that are literally there to just see you Blizz.

Or better yet give it to long time subscribers first because they will probably test your game better than a bunch of people at a game convention.

Terrifying looking at Ebay and seeing those keys going for a buy it now for almost $400 USD. That's pretty sad.

Good to know people went to a convention and took total advantage of that, you know instead of people who actually are interested in testing out their classes and providing helpful feedback to devs.

You know, I didn't go to PAX East this year because all the tickets were bought up before I had a chance to get any and I didn't want to pay a scalper. But now I see that I could have gone anyways and paid for the cost with these WoD beta keys.

I can't believe one of them is up to $255 on Ebay. What the crap people.
