While I am happy that people condemn pedophiles and pedophilia, I feel as though this condemnation of pedophiles is going far beyond getting justice and making children safer and turning into an all out witch hunt.
Every time someone is accused of pedophilia, people call for him to be castrated/killed. It's even to the point to where taxpayer dollars go into separating pedos from the rest of the prison population during his "rehillibitation." I've heard people argue that someone being attracted to children is a genetic predisposition. If that's the case, is this really the right approach to preventing this atrocity from occurring? Or is there a better way to approaching the act that doesn't make the U.S society damn near ready for a witch hunt?
I'm very concerned about the latter because if one person is wrongfully accused and something bad happens to him anyway, it's not very different from the people wrongfully accused and killed for witchcraft in Salem centuries ago. Can this fear turn into sheer irrationality in the future? Or has it already?
