    Countryside, small town, or city?

Just wondering what people on MMO-Champ prefer. Been a city person all my life but I have a weak spot for mountain cottages, even though I don't think I could fully settle down... what about you?

city all the way, born and raised in NYC and while its fun to get away in the mountains or a small college town for a while, could never settle anywhere without an intricate albeit broken public transportation system and easy access to food and other services 24/7

I have lived in major metropolitan areas (San Fran), minor ones (Portland, OR), small cities (2000-10k), and far in the country. When all is said and done, the small city withing ~30 minutes of an urban area is the best all around. Small crime, easy access to vital services, close to shopping, nice friendly vibe.

I grew up in a small town near a big city, but I love the idea of living in a big city one day. I've been to London a few times now and I can imagine living there one day!

    Pretty much this.

Getting hungry @2-3 am, and nothing in the fridge, or runing out of cigarretes, and there isnt anything open after 6pm and you dont have from where to buy them..nah not for me.

I like to go to small towns/mountains for few days not more.
Maybe when i get older, and tired of all the city noise i'll move to some country village.

City, always. I don't understand people that enjoy small towns as anything but a temporary curiosity.

Small city, close enough to bigger once. I have a population off about 15k, and the hole state if thats the english word for it, is about 25k.

15 KM's away from a bigger city that has some options.

Like it, wouldent bother with a big city...To many people, traffic and shit.

City-people live in cities. I am no city-person. I am a town-person and mind my own buiness as a town-person. Towns are cool. They offer everything you need. Relaxed enviroment, the stores you need and an okay amount of activities. I prefer the size of my old town over the one I live in now, but this one is so close to several other bigger towns, including the capitol of this country, so that makes up for it being a little smaller than I prefer(this one has 10k citizens). I'm like 20 minutes away from 3 other much bigger towns, and 45 mins away from the capitol.

Probably because we dont like the noise, crime, and traffic hassles. We like to lay down in our quiet bedroom and not have to hear the husband and wife in the next apartment fighting, or the upstairs kids stomping on the ceiling. We dont like the loud mufflers and motorcycles zipping by our windows all hours of the day. We dont like having to have iron bars on our windows to keep people out, and we dont like taking 2 hours to drive 5 miles. We dont like having to pay hundreds of dollars a month to park our cars or take 2 hours to go somewhere on public transportation that we couldve driven to in 15 minutes if there was no traffic. Also small towns will never be the target of a terrorist attack like NYC or Boston.

Also living in the country is a LOT cheaper, plus we arent tied down with so many damn regulations and fees, like mow your grass or pay a fine. Shovel your sidewalk or pay a fine. Dont move your car for a month because you arent using it? It gets towed and you have to pay impound fees. Gotta pay for trash removal, snow removal, parking, street light maintenance, street cleaning etc... In the country we just burn our trash, cut our grass when we feel like it and we have driveways and garages to park in and can let our cars sit as long as we want to

City. I like visiting the countryside, but I don't think I'd like living there.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Someone's never heard of soundproofing, and who the hell owns a car if you're living in the city center?

I live in a town of ~30k people, and while I could probably manage living in a city, I much prefer living in a small town. Like, I might be able to deal with Copenhagen/Stockholm, but London and Paris are waaaay too big for my tastes. Okay to visit, but not really somewhere I'd want to live. Then again, Copenhagen and Stockholm are mere villages compared to the stuff you have in the US.

Not sure what you're referring to, but Singapore is still very noisy and people-filled. It's clean relative to most other cities, but there's still some litter and filth about. The train systems are very well run, but it still takes a while to get from one part of the city to another. The worst part, though, is that a cocktail will cost between $25 and $35 a pop!

There are other cities I'd recommend to people who are anti-city long before Singapore.
