    Robosapien discussion

If you had the opportunity to transplant all of your thoughts and experiences into an artificial body that would never decay, possesses super strength and live forever would you do it?

As virtual realities become indistinguishable from real life where is the motivation to live a real life? Would there be any advantage to abandoning the real world either as an individual or a collective society?

We as human beings are rapidly transforming physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. Some see this as the end of humanity, the death of us as a species. Others view it as evolution. What is your perspective?

I believe we make ourselves extinct before we even evolve to so called "robosapiens". It's either a virus/disease or a genetic disorder that will kill us if an asteroid doesn't hit us first.

In a freaking heartbeat. In fact I don't doubt I would murder several people in front of me in the line to do so, just to get it done faster.

Hell I'd be happy just being inside a hard drive of nigh unlimited space and access to the internet at high speed, the body is optional.

Reddit and 4chan are the places where are all the people who got themselves saved on an old Maxtor IDE-drive full of bad sectors.

What about tumblr? Are they in the void left from deleting the systems32 folder?

I wouldn't want to be fully robotic, but maybe replace an arm to look like David Sarif.

If I had a fatal disease and was told I could do this and live another 40-50 years this way, then I'd honestly consider going for it.

But this immortality crap I just can never agree with. There is nothing that intrests me in living forever, when everyone and everything I know and love dies around him. You'd have to be a sociopath to think that was a good idea.

Now things like robotic arms and legs I've no problem with, men who have lost limbs, or organs to help them live, I'm good with that.
Just replacing everything that makes a person human, I'd just as sooner stop and say let me die.

Hands down yeah, the end scares me, just falling asleep into nothingness.

Death is so terribly final, while life is full of possibilities!

Hmm I've actually never visited tumblr. Someone mentioned there is porn. If this is true, I might take a look.

Why exactly are you assuming that this is an option exclusive to you?

Imagine all the things you could learn if you lived forever though. All the amazing places you could see in a robotic body. You may actually get to help colonize a planet.

What happens to your robot mind when you delete System32?

Never. The thought of eternity scares me.

I don't want to live forever, but a century is too short. I want to live until I'm ready to die.

People view death differently then others.
Who is to say that death is life and life is death?

I would... the only question I would have though is if the "robo" version of myself would still be me and my values.

You say "Download your consciousness" - but there are other things that dictate who you are, or at least influence your behaviors and some decisions, such as hormonal glands and what-not. Pituitary, testosterone, serotonin, dopamine, ect.

I mean - would Edgar Allan Poe or Vincent Van Goh be as artistic as they were if all there dopamine and serotonin values were regulated and optimal? :P

EDIT: I know if I was to suddenly wake up as I was right now, and be told that I'm a robot and that my original self was dead - I'd feel pretty honored and would respect that wish to live life every day as if it was new.

Oh, and those who fear eternity - that's where science and culture comes in - there will always be something new to explore and experience! ^_^

It's obviously depressing from my point of view considering I've already expressed the opposite?
