Your sig says you have a 7870 XT. Is this a different system? What's the situation? What are the other system specs?

This price is fantastic for the card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127784 (750ti for $130 after MIR)

For what it's worth, I'd stay away from mail in rebates unless you can live with the possibility of never actually getting it.

The ASUS card I linked has a code for an additional 7% off instantly ($140.50 instead of $149.99). I'd gladly pay another $10 for a 2 fan cooler and an extra DVI port in the back.

They're both good deals. $140 for a GTX 660 (equivalent) card is a screaming deal either way.

True enough. Some of the reviews I've seen make me want to buy one of these just to see how hard I can push it. Some people are saying it's got the ability to contend with much more expensive cards, and can be easily pushed to the maximum OC with the GPU tweak utility. It's really the first time I've ever been excited to buy an entry level card.

I've seen it score both lower, and higher, than a 660 in certain games/situations, so I consider it 'equivalent'. Even if it's not, it's close enough in most cases to call it a "price wins" scenario.

ty guys ill pass the stuff along to him.

Just try to make him understand that anything for ~$100 is not going to be an amazing piece of hardware. You'll get mostly low to medium settings on lower resolutions, which might be all he's after. But if not, if he wants 1080p gaming on med/high settings, he's going to to have to spend a bit more for it.

Sort of OT, but I have almost the same system as yours, but Wildstar beta made my 7870 XT GPU heat up like no ones business (and this was just in the character selection screen), and the system shut down every time. 95C was the highest temp I saw it get to before shutting down. I decided it wasn't worth frying my hardware to play a beta.

Have you tried playing Wildstar with your system?
