I don't like the way drinks with alcohol taste

Is this normal? Every alcoholic drink I've ever had tastes like shit to me and I often just go for a sweet tea in the end because of the wretched taste each one has. Just a bit confused as to why I never really enjoy any alcoholic drink, they all have this same alcohol taste and I don't seem to like that.

Makes no sense considering every male on my mothers side is pretty much a virulent alcoholic at some point in their life.

It's supposed to be an acquired taste. You should be hearing that term a lot. Personally I don't see the point of drinking something that tastes so awful and is bad for you at the same time. It's normally get one or the other.

Depends on the alcohol really, some when mixed right are really good and others are just plain awful (Although this varies from person to person, Like a friend loves Vodka and the other loves Captain Morgan).

By itself I think most of them taste pretty bad outside of Vodka(personally). I think the biggest thing is that the more you subject yourself to it the less it starts to taste bad/horrible/etc, I don't know anyone that just straight up liked the taste but after drinking it for so long to get drunk at a parties most people gained a type of tolerance.

I never used to like anything in the way of beer or wine when I was younger, I'd go for vodka and coke or an alcopop. Now I don't really like alcopops and like red wine and real ale.

The only alcoholic beverage that I actually enjoy drinking is Baileys. But I rarely drink alcohol. Mixed with milk, I mean.

On topic. As everyone has stated before, it depends on the person....all my friends love marijuana... and i dont. They love the smell, the taste the feeling.... for me the smell makes me nauseous and gag, i feel drunk when im stoned and i usually throw up, i get the spins, i hate the taste and the cotton mouth. I hate ciggs cause their gross...but i love hookah...go figure.

You may find depending on the type, quality, and type of taste some drinks are better than others. Im a Scotch or whiskey drink myself, if im drinking for taste. If im drinking for purpose *party, where i want to be trashed* vodka, tequilla, gin. None of them taste good to me on their own which is why you would mix em. Scotch and whiskey have their own set flavor profiles that i personally find enjoying. Oaky goodness ftw.

just have to try different ones, i don't like beers that much, if someone buys me a pint ill drink it but i prefer spirits, vodka and ginger beer is nice, anise drinks like ouzo can be either terrible or really nice depending on what you like. there aren't many alcoholic drinks that don't have that nasty alcoholic taste, a while back there was a fermented fruit smoothie thing sold near me, but i can't find them any more, they were great, sooo easy to get mashed on them and not even realise.

Sort of along the same lines as drinks with a major fruit flavour can be like fruit juice or smoothies, milk based cocktails can often just be like drinking a milkshake.

Maybe you're mixing drinks too strongly? If you're really interested in getting into it, start off with a little and see what you like. Also, the quality of the liquor used, brand, and type will affect the taste. Same goes for the mixer(s). Make sure to mix the drink properly too, it makes a difference.

Another alternative would be if you take shots, just plug your nose up you won't taste a thing. Or just salt+lime some tequila shots and you won't taste any alcohol sting either.

I like like sweet beers aka beer for woman. I can drink the "heavier" stuff if I feel like it at a part or BBQ though.

Don't mix anything with tequila if you drink that just drink that. mixing it with beer or other drinks is a terrible idea unless you have a lead lined stomach it won't stay in you.
