Arrow Rank the Star Trek Shows!

    My list:

    5. ENT - Interesting idea for a prequel series, but ultimately it became it's own little setting and didn't feel very "Star Trekish". Most of the characters were uninteresting.
    4. Voy - Not that this was bad series - it was a great one - but it felt underwhelming. The plot had a great start and became involving at first, but then was very quickly forgotten and turned into an excuse to just have another ship exploring new worlds. Some of the characters were great.'
    3. ToS - One of the most memorable television shows of all time - everything was superb.
    2. DS9 - The most unusual of the Star Trek shows; rather than an episodic adventure about planet-eating snowflakes and evil space robots each time, the series was a saga of two coalitions of races from different parts of the galaxy uniting, helping, betraying and backstabbing each other in what was undoubtedly the darkest series of them all. The "GoT" of the 1990s. Believable characters, excellent writing, all contributed to make this one of my most favorite shows.
    1. TNG - The true sucessor to ToS, with the best characters and all the goofier sets and crazier ideas. It. was. LEGENDARY!

Okay, I'm done reminiscing now. *Sniffs with nostalgia*

?. The Original Series. Never seen them. Seems like it would be crappy now, after watching the others so many times.

    2.5. The rebooted new movies.

    1. TNG there is nothing that beats this.
    5. TOS i couldn't bear watch a single episode...
    I haven't watched other 3 so i can't say.

  9. #9
    1. TNG
    2. DS9
    3. VOY
    4. TOS
    5. ENT

I hate to rank TOS so low but just in terms of watchability, I enjoy the modern Treks so much more. Enterprise... just wasn't as entertaining without all the 24th century technology.

And in case you hadn't heard today was the 20th anniversary of the TNG finale. Such an amazing show, it still stands up to the test of time today.

TNG first for me, followed by DS9(my all time favorite Trek episode, of any series, is DS9's In the Pale Moonlight though). TOS I respect for it's influence and paving the way, so I guess that makes it 3 to me, though I admit I'm not really apt to want to watch them, either. Voyager was pretty lame for the most part, and I can barely tolerate Janeway, so it comes in at 4, and Enterprise is fucking terrible, so that makes it 5.

I'm afraid I have never watched Ent, I used to be mad about star trek but life circumstances means I don't have the time to watch them.

Man, so much hate on Enterprise lol. I'm actually halfway through season 4 right now and have been lovin it. The whole time traveling around thing was kinda shoddy though, so it has to drop to 4.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for my ranking, but here goes.

    1. Voyager
    2. DS9
    3. TNG
    4. Enterprise
    5. TOS

    1. TNG
    2. Voyager
    3. DS9
    4. Enterprise
    5. TOS

2 and 3 are pretty much a tie for me though.

    1. TNG (picard!!!!!)

    2. Deep space nine (loved it's darker themes)

    3. Voyager

    4. Enterprise (found it fun to see the beginnings of earth in space travel and communication with aliens)

I have not yet seen the original (oldest) series, but i assume it is good.

Why is this thread not a poll?

1-DS9, a smarter version of the show after season 4. Its what started the trend of scifi being more than just episodic shows, long arcs over multiple episodes. Injected inner drama within the series something Star trek had hard time to do under Gene, because he wanted humanity to always look so perfect. Many people on the stations with different interests, alot of conflict, its what makes a show thats not only episodic.

2-TNG, had trouble finding its footing, season 1-2 is dreadful to watch. Even if overall to me its weaker than DS9, it had some of the strongest episodes in the entire series. Also some of its worst. Started the trend of the series to have more 2-3 parters for some small but sometime enjoyable arcs.

3-TOS, its dated, but im ranking all of them for what they were when released, i think its fair.

4-Voyager, its just mostly dreadful. Mostly forgettable cast of characters. Janeway either portrayed as a psycho or dumb most of the time, which is a shame because a women lead was an attractive idea to me. Rest of the cast absolutely forgettable except for Robert Picardo and Jeri Ryan doing good jobs at being interesting characters and good at acting. Had a good opportunity with the Maquis, which it never took, everyone just turned into star fleet officers after only a few episodes instead of using it for drama, considering how the Maquis were born into DS9, it was a huge wasted opportunity. Chakotay absolutely lifeless character, play to seems like its in touch with native americans (im native and this character is laughable lol). Neelix the jar jar binks of star trek, best of all they admitted their original intend was to be a breaktrought character like quark in DS9......yeah.....

5- Enterprise, just a poor show overall, uninteresting for the most part. Some very annoying characters almost on par with Neelix, but for different reasons. Had huge continuity problem with its own self (not talking about with other shows). Many episodes are pure facepalm, cough "let billions die for attempt at prime directive, couple episodes later break prime directive to save one person" cough. The show understood the world as much as TNG season 1 did.

I know im sounding harsh on voyager, but thats because i had a deep love for star trek as a kid/teenager/college student. I grew up with these shows, well not enterprise i was already old by then. I still watched and loved Voyager despite the harsh words i have for it, Characters like the doctor and 7of9 made the ride enjoyable for me. Even the few moments when Janeway is written well i cherish. On the other hand enterprise just makes me sick to my stomach for the most part lol.

    1. DS9 ~ It's probably odd, but what I love about this series is how un-trek-like it is. I do love the whole Star Trek universe, but DS9 does something truly special by showing the darker sides of that universe and does an amazing job of showcasing that war is still war, even in the 24th century. It also has by far the best cast of any series. Having non starfleet characters like Odo and Quark allows a window into other parts of the Star Trek universe we don't get to see in the other series.
    2. TNG ~ a really close second. TNG is the most watchable series of the group. Great cast and a wide array of stories. If you want to just jump in an watch an episode of two of Trek, TNG is the place to go.
    3. TOS ~ The series that started it all. Still hold up really well for as old as it is. It's only third on my list because TNG just does the same things slightly better and has a bit more well rounded cast.
    4. VOY ~ had some interesting ideas, but in the end it is just a crappy version of TNG or TOS. The cast is the weakest of all with only The Doctor and later Seven of Nine being at all interesting. The whole Maquis thing was an interesting idea on paper, but went nowhere really with them just becoming starfleet officers with different rank insignias. The episodes featuring The Doctor or the Borg were solid, but the rest was forgettable.
    5. ENT ~ Doomed from the start by it's prequel nature, it really could go anyplace all that interesting without causing plot holes. They would have been better off removing any connections to Star Trek and making it it's own unique sci-fi series. The only interesting thing about the series for me was Jeffrey Combs as the recurring character Shran. It also had the worst opening credits song of all time.
