Don't you work at kfc or something?. Im surprised employees cant have a soda whenever they find the time honestly. I don't see anything wrong with it, the materials cost like 5 cents. Also I seem to remember you saying you missed a day and got cut to like 12 hours a week or something like that. So what do you care if someone gets a drink?.

There's nothing wrong in stealing from the corporations, kissing corporation's butt for 100$ is.
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

The very decent thing might be to mind his own business out of not wanting to make the other guys problem his problem for fear of losing or needing his job, that at the very least is survival, something understandable.

You wouldn't be here posting if you didn't know you did something wrong. If you had done it because it was the right thing to do, it would be a completely different story. Intent is everything. Chances are you would screw someone who didn't do anything wrong, but you would find a way to rationalize it to yourself if it would benefit you. But honestly I wouldn't worry about it, karma has a way of working itself out.

if the money would've been higher and/or if i disliked the guy then i would've reported him/her. if the money wasn't enough, then i wouldn't have said shit. even if the money was a lot and the dude/chick was my friend, then i wouldn't say shit. not my problem.

It's just not in my nature to get others in trouble unless it's a serious offense. Then again I am also an individual that believes civil disobedience is healthy for a society.

Not to mention all the people in your company could steal sodas, it isn't going to compare to the sheer amount of loss many of the larger retailers suffer merely from careless distribution of their goods. I worked at Walmart and my God, you lost a fraction of your product just getting it shipped. You'd do your best to get it all out but when you've got a semi-trailer several yards deep packed from top to bottom in no discernible or intelligent manner... a lot of problems occur.

It was so bad at times it almost made me sick. That we're such an all-consuming people that we can lose huge quantities of goods, food and otherwise, without batting an eyelash at it. So no, one guy stealing a soda and actually drinking said soda isn't going to be even a concern for me when I see such thing as the aforementioned.

For 100$ you ruined his life instead of talking to him about the consequences. Getting fired over stealing now is going to be harder for him to get a job and no one wants to hire a thief. 100$ is not worth anything since you can spend that in 3 seconds to pay your bill

Being motivated by conscience or morality would make the action creditworthy, and I'm sure to some people noble. After all, the guy was stealing and stealing is in many cases morally unacceptable. However, being motivated simply by nothing more than personal gain, with the potential risk of losing someone else their job, lacks, in my view moral fibre.

Nevertheless, not everyone cares quite so much about what motivates people.

Sorry but thats a real immature way to think.

If someone dose something wrong "Breaking the Law/Rule" you report it and move on. If you don't you are just as bad as them. If you see someone kill/rape someone or steal something and you turn a blind eye you are just as bad.

Why the OP did it is selfish but it still dose not change the fact the guy did steal. I personally don't see getting something over on "Big Company" to be a big deal since "Big Company" loves screwing everyone. But if you are cought own up to it and face the music.

Do I steal nope but I'm not going to cry when someone steals from walmart. But if I see them doing it they get reported.

They stole you didn't, so reporting them shouldn't bother you. If I were too feel bad about anything there it is you didn't care but the 100 bucks you could get was worth fucking them over.

I wouldn't report him for my above stated reason.

That said I wouldn't steal. I hate it when I accidentally bring home company pens.

That must have just been your managers being dicks. One of my first jobs was at Cracker Barrel and after awhile I went to other locations to train staff or open stores and all of them allowed employees to drink fountain soda for free. You couldn't have the bottled root beer or cream soda for free but could get it for 10% 40% or 50% off depending on the store or your length of employment.
