    New build help

Hi all, back looking for advice for a new budget gaming build!

    Budget: £700 (flexible)
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Games / Settings Desired: WoW, D3, Watch Dogs, various other console ports. (Medium or higher will suffice)
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) Music Production (Already have external soundcard)
    Country: UK
Parts that can be reused: n/a
Do you need an OS? Yes
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? No

Here is what I've come up with so far, no case chosen yet as I would really like help from you guys on choosing that.

Any input and/or changes more than welcome! (if I need to do without an SSD for a while to get more from another area, I can live with that)

The maximum I could probably squeeze would be around the £750 mark :P

Your build is solid except the ram. You need low profile ram to fit below CM evo or most aftermarket air coolers. If you throw a few more pounds then you can get a Crucial 240GB ssd or go for R9 280x.

You could have something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£163.90 @ Amazon UK)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Pro3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£68.98 @ Amazon UK)
    Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£57.50 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£55.89 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£40.00 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card (£203.99 @ Aria PC)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case (£39.95 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£45.98 @ Dabs)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) (£68.69 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
    Total: £744.88
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Or if you absolutely never going to overclock:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£155.94 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£66.65 @ Dabs)
    Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£57.50 @ Ebuyer)
    Storage: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£77.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£40.00 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card (£203.99 @ Aria PC)
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£31.44 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£45.98 @ Dabs)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) (£68.69 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
    Total: £748.18
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I certainly wouldn't rule out overclocking in the near future, so the i5k's are certainly in my plans.

Regarding the r9 280x, I've been reading that these are more powerful than other cards around that price range, is this right?

Thanks very much for your input, really like the look of the first list with the i5-4670k.

Build looks solid, I would get a 250GB EVO though 120GB fills quick.

The Dominator ram will not work with a Cooler Master 212, Dominator is designed to go with liquid coolers. Choose some ram with lower heat shields or go watercooling.
