So my friend needs a new laptop gaming pc
Going to be used for wow, diablo3, wildstar etc
Budget is around 1500 dollars

You'll max the vast majority of games with those at 60fps. Probably not wildstar because it's very badly optimized.

How important is portability?

Something with an SSD would probably be good too.

portability is not very important.
My friend just cant fit a big case.

That exotic/Sager model is actually a Clevo product that is sold by a few different makers. Cyberpower has it for $1070 with free shipping. Look for the X7- 7600.

Most resellers don't include the OS though, it's 1050 on xotic minus OS, either way the only thing that matters is how good their warranty/CS is since it's the exact same machine.

The OS is included in the price of the Cyberpower X7-7600. It's exactly the same machine as the Sager except for the name on the case.
