Question to pet owners (Dogs or Cats)

Is there a water fountain bowl that doesn't need to run on electricity?

I can't seem to find any. Doesn't surprise me, though.

We just have a bowl of water that we manually fill up once or twice a day.

we look out for it to not run out and when it does and the dog is thirsty he usually signals it by just laying down before the bowl. he usually never lies around in the kitchen so we instantly know whats wrong, no need for a fountain imo.

I just use a normal bowl that I will rinse and refill daily.

I believe there are some battery operated ones out there.

The water fountains are generally a pain in the ass though. You need to stay on top of keeping them very clean.

Ours just smack their bowl when they are thirsty.

This is the closest thing that might be similar that I found.

We also just use regular water bowls for our animals. However, if you have kids, they are certainly handy for "auto-refilling" the food and water bowls...haha!

    Revolutionary!

Same. We have one we put outside in the winter that's heated so the water doesn't freeze too.

This is what we use, we have a few of them, they let the water out slowly. I just run the bowl through the dishwasher to clean it so it doesn't get scummy. We travel often several weeks at a time and these are a lifesaver.

You mean, the toilet? It's non-electric and gets filled with fresh water every time.
See that ? It's so pristine, a human would drink from there.

We used to have something similar except it worked with a 2 liter soda bottle. That worked until our dog decided that lapping up water was too slow for his tastes and preferred sticking his whole muzzle in the water and gulping it down and generally making a mess (90 pound dog so he displaced a fair amount of water with his snout). Thereafter, we just put a big plastic tub out in the backyard and changed the water once a day with a hose.

I run a powered 2 gallon capacity fountain with triple filtration for the inside. Then there's 2 of those that Juliana and Catacrusader linked outside, one at the front and one at the back.

Those ones I use outside are as close to a powerless fountain as you'll get I'd imagine.

For a dog just get a washing up bowl and fill it up, my doberman is huge and regular bowls are no good for him.

Water fountains circulate water and, therefor, circulate bacteria and filth. You'd need to clean it regularly. I don't see how a fountain could regulate water flow with no electricity and be compacted into a tiny frame.

Can't say I've heard of any. (But design a light powered one and you might make some cash!)

Personally we use those big water cooler ones with the upside down bottle that keeps it filled.
