    Help with a build

Hey all, I'm currently putting together a rig for my friend. This is going to be the 2nd build I've done, my last one was about 2 years ago and went super well. I finally convinced him to build his own instead of buying another alienware after his current laptop died.

Last time I put together my build, I posted my list to these forums and you guys were super helpful, saving me money and even preventing me from buying ram sticks that wouldn't have even fit under my noctua d14. I figured I'd post my list again to you guys and see if anyone could help me out here

My current list so far is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4NYdrH

I feel like i'm doing pretty well so far, my biggest issue is picking a processor. I use an I7 2700k 3.5 ghz processor in my current rig, and am kind of torn between basically what I'm using now, or the I5 that is listed on the current setup of the month by Chaud (which is what I used as a basis for both my first build as well as this one)

If anyone could look this list over, and let me know what you think, I'd really appreciate it. Again, this is only my second build, so although I feel a bit more confident about my selection this time around, there may be some glaring flaws that someone could point out.

Thanks in advance guys, really appreciate help : )

Depending on whether or not your friend will benefit from an i7, the best CPU choices would be an i5 4670K or an i7 4770K. However, without knowing more, there's not much else we can help you with.

If you need more help, you'll need to fill out the info in the sticky.

    • Budget
    • Resolution
    • Games / Settings Desired
    • Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc)
    • Country
    • Parts that can be reused
    • Do you need an OS?
    • Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?

Might be time to reconsider priorities when your case price is ~67% of the GPU price

As mentioned if you answer the above questions it'll be easier to help you.

Sorry, didn't notice the sticky before

    Budget ---probably 1100$-1600$
    Resolution --- 1920x1080
Games / Settings Desired --- Rome II, Far Cry 4 probably, stuff like that at high settings preferably
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) --- just basic gaming really
    Country --- USA
Parts that can be reused --- not anything, his last computer was a laptop
Do you need an OS? --- yeah, plan on getting windows 7 system builder
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? --- Gonna be looking around for about a 22"-24" monitor, have a mouse already and a keyboard picked out, might look for some speakers

As to GPU pricing, again I just kind of grabbed the top end GPU listed on the setup of the month, same with the other pieces here

For the base unit+monitor, that should be good for a number of years at 1080p quality.

Build i would propose is somewhat similar to tenagrychickens with some personal touches and black/red theme throughout.
