Those Who Like Anime

First off, I am not bashing anyone who likes anime. Even though I am not a fan of it myself, I respect the opinions of those who do.

With that said, I am curious why most people who watch anime (especially females, from my past experiences) are weird. And not just weird, but into taboo things like demonology, S&M, bisexuality, etc. I know not everyone is like that, but why is it when they like anime (and have anime profile pictures on Facebook, for example) they are also into (in my opinion) weird and polarizing things? I've tried to hold intelligent conversations with a lot of them, but something about them just irks and irritates me.

Are you like this? Have you met anyone like this? I'm curious if I am the only one.

This isn't going to be a thread that could be remotely constructive and would just be offensive to a great deal of posters who watch anime.
