    Dancing Steel vs. Windsong... really?

I saw this blog on the 6.0 Warrior discussion thread, saw this article...

    http://warriordpr.blogspot.com/2014/...nts-again.html

Is this sound advice? I'm a 572 TG fury warrior (Minoke-Area 52) and always did double Dancing Steel. I have a Thok but it's normal so 569 after 4/4.

Not sure what to think of this possibility. Is this guy right?

Has to do with whether or not you can crit-cap BT with the windsong crit buffs up and how valuable mastery becomes with near 100% enrage uptimes. If you can, then it makes it better than DS for the very small ilvl slice that it applies to. If not, stick with DS.

It has also been made mostly irrelevant by the extra upgrades.

That guy is crazy and never has a clue what he is talking about. Especially around here with regards to Warriors.

But really, it depends on your ilvl more than anything, upgrades ruined it for those of us approaching BiS (the 580+ crowd), but not everyone. The basic rules are if you have Thoks and if the Crit - Windsong does not put you over Crit cap (53% fully raid buffed); Windsong is > Dancing Steel.

However, you have to sim it for yourself to be sure.

That guy is currently our best theory-crafter. He is normally right, although sometimes makes a mistake/overlooks something minor. I run 2x Windsong, but sim it for yourself to make sure.

    I'm always sometimes right.

Except for when blizzard announces the day after that post that they're doing 4/4 upgrades.

    http://warriordpr.blogspot.com/2014/...ain-again.html

Then I have to go and revise.

No pretty charts this time, mostly because I have no simple answer for it.

The best advice I can give is if you have all of the following:

    1: Between 40-46% self-buffed crit.
    2: More than 40-45% self-buffed mastery
3: A Thok's Tail Tip of 570~ ilevel or greater

Then windsong on both of your weapons is very likely the best weapon enchant for you.

Once you reach 46% self-buffed crit, in most cases double dancing steel will start to become better, and will undoubtedly be better any higher than that. The amount of mastery isn't important at this level of crit.

However, the only way to be sure is to simulate your character and find out.

This is pretty accurate, I'm terrific about forgetting things such as bladestorm having 7 ticks rather than 6. :P

My greatest theorycrafting achievement this expansion. Get on my level.

Can't believe nobody liked my picture of Collision.

... I didn't think warriors _had_ self-buffs on crit OR mastery... ummm.... I'll check my stats.

    I have a 569 Thok's Tail Tip (normal non-WF 4/4)

Base crit 38.6%, base mastery 33.2%. Item level 572.

Self buffed just means no buffs in this case. You're probably better of with dancing steel.

Windsong > Dancing Steel when you're below the crit cap for BT regardless of how below it you are?

Or do you mean there's a specific "breakpoint" pre BT crit cap?

from ~ ten posts above you

So unless you have a very specific gearset (rather close to bis non-wf) it's unlikely you'll be the perfect Windsong candidate.

You have to sim it. No way around it. The rules he posted are more guidelines and nothing is certain. Even on a toaster it only takes ~10 minutes to run a DPS sim with double Dancing Steel and another with double Windsong (keep in mind you don't have to sim stat weights to save time).

Guys, try to keep in mind that:
    1) Irony is hard to convey on forums, so the "Collision has no clue" posts might be really misleading to newcomers.
    2) Having fun is ok, doing so while still keeping th discussion relevant and interesting is better. Funny one sentence posts can quickly become spammy and derail a thread, sadly.
