LGBT Requests for WoW - Why?

First off, I am a 20 year old gay man and I have been playing since I was a wee little fat boy of 12 years old.

Why do people insist on adding "special snowflake" representation of this, or any other form that relates to the real world. Can we not? Those that request LGBT crap to be put in game, stop. As if hardcore Christians don't hate us enough already. Crazy wow geeks and god lovers can complain even more.

As far as I know, everyone in Azeroth is treated as a "pixel-equal". There are no "rights" in azeroth. Male Blood Elves and Female Orcs/Dwarves are as close to gay we are going to get. And to me, that's good enough.

You don't see a brown orc get on a zeppelin and a pale skinned blood elf tell him to get to the back. Why? Because real world (circa late 1800's-1970s) doesn't apply here, and neither does the current millennium.

The only special snowflake crap blizzard should be adding are the little easter eggs referring to people or TV shows and bands.

    Where are people insisting?

All over the forums/tweets blah blah.
This is a video game, not a forum for social justice.
People play the game to escape from the real world, not to drag reality in to it.
    I agree with OP.

I don't see people insisting that that has to be added to the game. I see people discussing the whole thing, and most people seem to be vehemently against it, while others are open to the idea.

Basically it's the "I demand things like me" syndrome, and the denial of being a minority.

The you either don't understand what they are saying or maybe you are not reading the forums as much as you think. I've run across quite a few in the last couple of years.

    +1 OP

Some people just feel urge to push their sexual identity down your throat. And that's stupid. Noone cares about your homosexualism ingame. Ostentatiously show it and you will face a hate. Isn't that easy to understand?

They already had a gay relationship in the game back in the Firelands/Molten Front days that was pretty obvious, and even cross-species.

Officially they're stated as "friends" but it was blatantly obvious to anyone who did the quests.

That said, this is an MMO with RP realms. If you want to play a gay character, come on and roll over here on Wyrmrest Accord o Moon Guard and head on down to the Goldshire Inn. :P

Confirmation Bias, ever heard of it? So if anyone has a friend it means they're obviously gay, right?

I don't really care one way or another. But I think the OP put it pretty well.

Some people like to feel, idk, represented, I guess? I personally don't give a damn, and obviously it's the same with op. But evidently some people care enough to pester Blizz about it, this being the internet and all. Tbh it's not any more silly than whining for the 10876th time about the damn no flying or no tier in lfr of whatever the latest fad in whining is these days.

That said, the conspicuous lack of LBGTBBQ... eh, whatever, non-'nilla... characters in Western fiction, video games, Holywood movies etc really *is* kinda dumb. We have bazillions of heterosexual relationships portrayed everywhere, why not a single gay? Personally idc, but I get that some people do, see above.

Btw the argument "let's shut up and sit still, maybe the scary Catholics won't notice" is quite dumb. It doesn't work. Never has, never will. In my country I hear that crap all the time, while fundie right wing nuts appropriate the public space and shit on everyone who doesn't conform. Silent or not, you get treated like shit, but the majority just uses your silence to further marginalize you. That's how it works here, doubt it's any different elsewhere.

tl;dr - everyone can care or not care or whatever, but if they DO, they should be vocal about it; as the other side sure as fuck will be

I am pretty sure Prince Anduin Wrynn is a homosexual.

If you had actually done the quests, there is a ton of subtext there that isn't really the sort of thing that you have with "best friends". Really you'd have to be blind not to see it.

Where is it obvious? I never even noticed the two.

    Then quote the text.

He totally didn't make a move on "Aunt Jaina" when he was sitting in her bedroom
You're not allowed to discuss conspiracy theories on mmo-champion, which makes me wonder what they're trying to hide.

Well in some people's fantasies, they live in a world (of Warcraft) where lgbtq is normal, not "social justice" lol.
Though to be honest, sexual orientation in a game shouldn't be important as is really no one's business anyway... So yeah I wouldn't be surprised if a NPC you just meet does not tell you their orientation anyway.

It's kind of an odd request. Anyway, lgbtqia want lgbtqia people in the game because they are lgbtqia. Not too hard to understand, is it?

Solvexx, what you're saying is like people asking for more black people in the game, and you're saying people play the game to get away from the black people in the world lol...

It's just people seeing things they want to see....

Why? You think anyone who isn't "butch" is a gay?

Agreed with the OP, I wouldn't mind having gay characters but it is really not necessary. We already have Tholo and Anren but clearly that's not gonna shut people up.

Games are not platforms for social agendas.
