Castaway on the Moon / Kim's Island, my first and probably my favorite Korean movie to date. I stumbled upon it randomly while literally browsing the internet. Great combination of drama, romance and comedy with a Robinson-esque story

Indeed. We saw it the same week as watching A Serbian Film. Was a great week!

Found a vague recommendation for it while looking for zombie movies\books and good god did it floor me with its 'realism'.
I rather enjoyed that one, too. Not a movie for people who don't want to identify or like a film's protagonists, however. Not as depraved in that sense as Funny Games, but in the same general area.

    Outland, from 1981.

Sean Connery in space kicking ass as police marshal. Only found it a couple of months ago and surprised i missed it since most movies i watch are from 80-90's scifi/space themed.

Coraline; I'd seen the name here and there but didn't know anything about it in particular. Really great little movie.

Was playing on tv. I was bored with nothing else on so I watched it. Much to my surprise I enjoyed it. Had never heard of it prior to that night

Thanks to Shyama for this beautiful signature <3

Outland is great! Good, cheesy sci-fi action. I was sold on the Sean Connery in space on the VHS box. Coraline was nice too, though I was familiar with the book prior to seeing the movie.

I hadn't heard of it till someone was like "LETS WATCH THIS!". I found it ludicrously entertaining and have since purchased it on DVD and subsequently blu-ray.
Watched it in German class, was interesting :P

i dont know if i would call it a great movie, but I think the movie Hancock (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448157/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) was so much better to watch not having known a damn thing about it. At the very beginning of this movie, a kid starts poking some random bum sleeping on a bench... and all of a sudden there's just a totally WTF IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW situation since I had no clue what the movie was about. Probably made the movie 20x better.

I've tried watching some other random movies without knowing what they were, but no other movie I have seen I think has been BETTER because I didn't know what it was.

    Moon

No one ever seems to have heard of this movie.

    Man From Earth : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/

One of the best movies ever, with no violence, sex, murder, car chases - matter of fact just a few guys chatting.

    Stardust.

Didn't know anything about it, just figured I'd watch it because reasons with my dad (I was 25 and he was 56 at the time) and we both ended up loving it. Warm, funny and so well made. Never heard of it, never saw any marketing and I only know 3 people that have watched it.

I'm pretty sure I was bored scrolling through the guide on my cable when I came across this movie on the movie network a few years ago. Watched it and loved it!

    Ed Wood - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109707/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Tim Burton directed this, though I had never heard of it.

This movie - surprisingly - is about Ed Wood his life. Ed Wood is known as the worst directer ever that has walked this blue earth. Bill Murray is fantastic in his gay role, even if it's only a small role. Johnny Depp overacts (well all of em do really) brilliantly as Ed Wood himself. Overall it has a very good atmosphere, some typical Burton things in it. It's sad, it's funny, it's original and it's mostly true.

If you seriously want a great movie about the worst director ever, this is a must watch.

I decided to watch this one & it turned out to be a great film. It follows a few characters & it's about choices in life but it was still a pretty good watch.
