For Abathur, I find him amazing in the new map. Since I am always in my base anyway I can quickly grab the big Terror. When it dies or wears off I just Deep Tunnel back to my base and symbiote someone again.

I have to say I am rather enjoying him. He is EXTREMELY tactical. You have to be jumping in and out of allied heroes constantly, so you can keep a presence in fights. And you need to know when/who to clone. Can't count how many times I managed to snipe an enemy to death who was trying to finish off one of my allies, just because they didnt expect a symbiote to show up.

Play him right and he can easily turn the tide of a battle.

    How not to play Abathur:

-Do not just put a symbiote on someone and wait...and wait...until it expires. If they are not in trouble, are just wandering around, or there aren't enemy heroes nearby cancel it and hope to someone else. Also don't ever actually let it expire...cancel it just before it does, so it doesn't reset your camera if you need to get it back on the same hero.

-Do not try to directly contront the enemy...just...don't. Your little zergy behind will go squish.

-Do not just clone heroes willy nilly. Wait for the right time....enemy is on the ropes and that one little extra push will give your team the edge to wipe theirs? Yeah, use it. I try to go for support/specialists classes with my cloning (though...go for a hero you KNOW! Cloning a hero that you have 0 experience with will do you no good in a pinch.) These clones also make great distractions as the enemy team can't just IGNORE it...yet it's death really doesn't mean much.

As said...he is tricky to learn, but it pays off. I would say he is one of the stronger supports in terms of keeping your team mates backed up. When it comes to things like healing, he is "meh". He can shield allies, and you can make it heal. And the heal isn't completely ignorable, but it's not really what he was designed for. Basically I look at him more as a buffer than anything else. The Symbiote is basically just that: You add extra damage/defense to the ally as well as can aim freely of them.
Yeah ive been playing abathur for about a month and i have to say he is a great supporting presence in a fight. Ive found that if you want to risk it you can hide in the bushes near an enemy fort and literately zerg it down without much notice from the enemy team, just get the health increase for your locust and spec into locust swarm. As for the shield, it my not be the strongest but it can save an ally in a pinch.

There are a couple heroes that kinda own my soul (Zeratul seems to give me hassles) but even then it's typically just a suicide mission for them to come harass me unless I've made a mistake and placed myself in a poor position.
I tried hammer, I hate it. I just get ganked so easily it is not fun.

Yeah, I spammed Witch Doctor last night and every time I got a hammer they just fed me kills.

Anyway, playing with two friends last night managed to go like 8-1. 4 of the games ended under 10 mins. 2 of them no one on our team died.

For now here are the heroes that are probably/most likely still just as strong or stronger after patch. (will update list later)

Tassadar - minor mana problems after patch with talent shifts. Still pumps out retarded damage and still has great utility.

Witch Doctor - will be S tier in new list no doubt about it. Using 10/10 ap, structure damage, and move speed runes - god tier. Amazing aoe damage.

    Raynor - still strong

    Nova - still strong (A/S)

Brightwing - still amazing (S tier fo sho)

    Valla - still strong

And then....there is Rehgar. What can be said. Probably ties with brightwing for best support in the game. Amazing healing, damage absorbs, snares/roots, amazing chasing ability, and a godly ultimate in Bloodlust atm. Literally, you can play games on the Dragon, skull, or tree monster maps and get a free win with rehgar. Get a obj monster going and push as 5 and just lust the team+monster.

The two games we played where no one died was a combo of Brightwing and Rehgar. Amazing sustain while pushing their base.

In case anyone was curious the full comp was:
    Brightwing
    Rehgar
    Valla
    Nazeebo
    Raynor

Personally I go for increased mine damage and the ability to place them globally. I keep an eye on the fights, and if I see the enemy trying to run I lay them out at choke points (usually in the grass or smoke areas that block vision so they cant see them) and snipe kills as they try to run from my allies.

The way I see Abathur: If you are good at playing RTS games (as in you have full battlefield awareness and do not tunnel vision. You are used to jumping around the map to keep an eye on things) you will be good with Abathur.

I can easily see them making it so lust has no effect on dragon/horror. It's just too powerful.

Well, technically they are still heroes, so it would weaken the abilty, not sure as heals are not supposed to work with the dragon hero, does raynor ability work with them?

I never played a rts game yet I think I am good at Abathur. Though I always seem to have a very hard time trying to win, my win rate is not that good with him...

The unlimited mine range is nice for finding where your opponents are going and put them on objectives and by the coin guy, if someone tries to give the guy coins have your team gank them.

I have found hammer is very strong if left alone. Having a hammer and a Abathur means you can have some nasty map control. I had a Hammer which basically took top lane and just took all the minions while I(Abathur kept the mid and bottom lanes in check while our other 3 heroes were able to roam the map and do whatever they wanted. It can be a deadly combo.

That said, almost every time there's a Hammer on the opposing team, it seems like a non-factor. Perhaps playing her so much has made me more familiar with the weaknesses, I dunno.
Abathur is very weak unless you use all of his abilities and constantly use them 24/7. All his attacks are very weak so you have to make up for it by not dieing and constantly be active. If your toxic nest is down, exit who you are using, and lay them down then go back to killing. Unless it is a important fight.

Hammer is exceptionally good ranged burst. She's brilliant at interrupting on Blackheart Bay and Cursed Hollow, and can occasionally just snipe people from 25% down quite easily.

Arthas is a mixed bag, terrible early game but with the right build you can stack so much regen he become a regenerating juggernaut that can keep targets in melee while delivering high capability burst. Ultimately he's probably the second best camp clearer after Sonja, which is great, unless you've a Gazlowe in which case you're a bit redundant.

Rehgar is comp dependant, and struggles to make an impact in ranged heavy groups, but well timed shields and bloodlusts can turn a balanced fight into a one sided beat down. Mana heavy too, very dependant on picking up the regeneration artifact.
Ex-Mod. Technically retired, they just won't let me quit.

I am finding ETC the perfect Warrior/tank.

You can easily 1v1 someone and or escape, you can take a good amount of damage, have a stun/pushback, and is very good at jungling. While it might take him a while longer, if you pick up the 50% less non-heroic damage it becomes so easy and you don't have to use any mana. You can also be very helpful in a group fight with your short term and long stun/pushback, this is one of those characters that I feel is not really bad at anything. His damage may not be the best, it is very reasonable with the amount of control and healing you can do.

So hey, question about Abathur. I have no interest in playing as him, but when I'm playing with him and he casts Symbiote on me, what should I do? What exactly do I gain by having Symbiote on me?

Er, you can not really do anything to help you, but if you are closer to more enemies the more he can hit them. He can give you a bubble and maybe a heal or speed boost. Also when you are running away from people he can still attack those people damaging them. He can also kill people when they are running away from you.

I just saw a Hammer solo a game, they need to give the dragon extra range so she can not just damage it while not even getting hit.

Eh, sure he doesn't die in the jungle and barely takes damage, but it takes him AGES to kill anything in it. I find him to be the slowest jangler out of almost any hero in the game this far.

You can play SLIGHTLY more aggressively when the symbiote is on you, especially when you are shielded by it. It's added damage will turn a 1v1 in your favor.

Abathur is amazing when used correctly. I move a lot to righto outside their base, drop a Locust swarm, then move on. Those things do do MASSIVE damage to the enemies defenses. He is also an amazing jungler thanks to those. Locust Swarm can decimate creeps quick, letting you cap it and deep tunnel away.

A good Abathur does not just stick around in the spawn...he is out there making the most of his ability to jungle and pressure the enemy with his Locusts of doom.

Yes but you also never have to go back or wait for mana.

I have also found him really good at pushing lanes solo. I mean this guy can take turret damage constantly and be fine just as long as you don't have a hero on you. I mean you can kill a turret with 3 of them shooting at you. He is also great at handling minions, forcing them to dance for 5 seconds is just game breaking sometimes.

Is there a reason why Uther isn't considered a good support? I been playing him since he's free this week, and while he isn't as versatile as brightwing, i find his heals and kit rather solid. And he can be a tank to soak dmg as well.

He's a great support, especially if your team doesn't have a dedicated Warrior. Divine Storm is great, his stun can end a lot of threats (Strafe, etc) and having two heals is amazing. He's my go-to support.

Sonya is a brute. You be aggressive with her. A Q and a W on a squishy is practically half their health. And you don't blindly "leap" into team fights... You want to do that, you go ETC... but as Barb, you LEAP to make use of the fact that it's a gap closer AND a CC... You use it for a stun, to stop people from escaping, or as your own escape. See that nova fleeing with just 1/3 of her life? Leap+Q in her face = dead nova. Entire enemy team chasing you? Easy juke over the trees. Her kit might be simple, but with the relatively simple prospect of landing her Q and mashing W, she is far from a slouch.

Eh, I still don't think he belongs in the jungle at all, not if he's not simply tanking something for somebody else to do the killing. 90 seconds to kill a siege giant camp is pointless no matter how little damage you take or mana you save. You are very right about his outstanding power in turret tanking and 1v1ing people in lanes. Plenty of self healing, lots of CC, the minion dance that makes it easy to push while focusing on another hero, he can stall most other heroes for ages.
