So new expansion wont be released till October at the earliest.

Based on the blue post regarding the chopper that you have to log in before 30th of September so flag your account for the chopper once Warlords goes live, It is putting a nail in the coffin for the games release before mid october.

I expect the week after blizzcon still.

But at least we have a better time frame.

Where exactly does it state that you can't validate your account to receive the chopper after it has been released on live? One could come to this conclusion, but as there is no proof it's merely an assumption, which is as good as any.

Anyone who logs in to the game between now and September 30, 2014 will automatically have their account flagged to receive the Horde chopper upon the release of the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion. Everyone can (and should!) claim their chopper by logging in now...

It's pretty clear they that aren't optimistic about the expansion releasing before their stated date and of course this post can be seen as them setting a "preparation period and planning" for the release of the mount to only the players who logged in during this time which they explicitly state will be releasing at the same time as WoD. So they're hardly going to set up a prep period that also coincides with the release, that mean too many people will have the mount to actually buy it when it is put on the store afterwards.

They started testing the first Raid. That was 3 months before release in the past.

That would make a Nov release. Probably one week after BlizzCon.

The problem of WoD is simply that the technical back office of WoW changed so much (and ditto cross server technology) that all this hampered everything else.

As this technology was implemented on old Legacy systems, it is not hard to understand this transition takes time.

The now famous new technology of mixing cross server instances seamlessly within an open world will be a blast though once it is finished.

The problem is that most players won't have a clue about this, but rest assured WoW open world play and integrated instances open up complete new opportunities in the future.

I am glad they made the open world pvp zone a test case in WoD for this, but in the future they'll add open world cross server dungeons, so making the old instance play outdated.

You'll just walk into a dungeon in the open and meet the other players from other servers as if you were playing in the open. This new structure along with a complete graphical overhaul of avatars made introducing new classes/races impossible.

Here's my guess, October 1st will be the launch of 6.0 and the pre-expansion events. That'll last about a month and then in early November we'll see the actual expansion go live.
