It is CGI the test footage was made at blur studios and is part of an 8 minute test reel. no word on why it's all the sudden being made public but the optimistic hope is to gauge interest in seeing a completed and presumably live action project. and yeah that's Ryan Reynolds and he makes it work

I totally agree. And I love what Reynolds said aboot it: he'd love to do a Deadpool movie
but he'd only do it if it could be rated 'R'. XD

The quality of the CG makes me think the OP is right, it's test footage so they made
this quick and on the fly. A real Deadpool movie would surely be live-action.

Re-watching it still gives me giggles.

EDIT: Welp, it was sorta confirmed to be just test footage that "someone was just
playing around with and no one was meant to see."

I would love it. I literally cannot see anyone else but Ryan Reynolds playing him so that's perfect.

Footage was done 3 years ago with Ryan Reynolds doing mo-cap, and looks low end because it was! It's just to sell what the script would look like live to Fox execs. With Fox going apeshit getting these taken down every time they pop up, I think they have their answer on whether or not this movie should be made. The test footage is PERFECT Deadpool and I really want to see the whole 8 minutes now. If the film keeps to the humor and style this was, I can totally seeing this being another Marvel blockbuster. Also, I'm so there first night in theatres, definitely.

R rated movies have hard time becoming blockbusters, they have different audience. This version of Deadpool is a R thing, this may be the biggest obstacle to making it a movie

I agree. The only way I can see them "bypassing" it, is to pull a Spawn and have a hard PG-13 rating for the theatrical release then release an Uncut R rated version for DVD/Blu-Ray. It's probably the biggest reason we haven't seen it, since it would be Marvel's first R rated movie, I believe? Then again, in these times what's PG-13 NOW would more than likely have been R back in the 80s/90s.

We'll see how Fox takes all this in, though. Here's to hoping at least!
