can you elaborate this a bit? is it based just on the number of trophies won?

Number of trophies won, 1 trophy only counts as 1 - given the fact the European Cup is an elitist competition stacked against the vast majority of European clubs it's not entirely fair to use that as a counter.

As for the 54 league titles, I believe it's still a world record with Linfield being second with 51, two team league and all that and depending on how bitter the person is you're talking to it's either 54 or 53.5 given we shared the title in 1891 with Dumbarton.

Unfortunately we don't hold the most league titles in a row - that's Skonto Riga's 14, we topped out at 9, matching Celtic's 9-in-a-row feat.

If anyone cares , the 83-84 European Cup was lost in our stadium , with 80.000+ people watching and cheering the team on , at penalty shoot-outs.

Cardiff are the only non English team to win the FA Cup...so that's something I guess
And for the Rangers guy: it's not hard to be the 'World's most successful football club' when you play in a league with just 1 other team

That's why Sevco had to get reinstated into the SPFL and that's why you can't beat Hearts.

The club remained in existence, it was the parent company that was dissolved and reformed. The Glasgow Rangers that play today in the Scottish Championship are recognised as the same club that was founded in 1872.

The reports of their death are greatly exaggerated.

    Sorry NG.

Rangers FC were liquidised having owed HMRC several millions. The cheated using EBTs to pay players to avoid tax.

They were eventually found out & readmitted to SFPL3 and banned by UEFA for 3yrs until the could audit their finances.

    Sevco became 'The Rangers'.

    No history.

  19. #19
Funny, because last I heard HMRC were seeking leave to appeal the fact that the "big" tax case was LOST - the "wee" tax case (primarily that where Craig Whyte neglected to pay tax & national insurance contributions) was won by HMRC & at a cost of less than £12m including fines & costs you'd find it difficult to find any financial expert who'd suggest that was outwith Rangers' ability to deal with. Typical nonsensical bullshit from people who refuse to understand that there's a football club & a business, the business went bust, the football club, remained, as validated not only by the Scottish Football Association but by UEFA as well.

The records clearly state that Rangers are in existence, Rangers are currently playing & have full & unquestioned claim to the 115 trophies won prior to the dissolution of the PLC.

Don't make me start on the illegal sanctions employed by the Scottish Football Association, the blackmail associated with gaining the license to play in season 12/13 & the fact that were it not for Rangers continued existence, Scottish football would be in a darker hole than Morton in Hamilton or the fact that correct me if I'm wrong, Morton went into administration in the relatively money filled times of the early 00's.

(And NG can pretty much go ahead and infract me for the post as rising to flame bait, but idiots need correcting from time to time!)
